Stephanie (chasmofbooks) Hey guys, I'm trying to compare the Nook and Kindle and figure out which is better. I don't own one myself and have only ever borrowed the first Kindle model (which I really wasn't impressed with) and played around with the Nook Simple Touch while at B&N, which I found much better than the latter.

So I was wondering if anyone here owns a Kindle and/or Nook and, if so, how do you like it? Oh, and would you mind telling me which models you have. Thanks!

message 802: by Firestormkittycat (new)

Firestormkittycat I myself have neither. One of my friends has a nook and loves it, and another friend has a Kindle and loves it. From what I've seen, people with a nook like nooks and people with kindles like kindles. Personally, I would go read online reviews and go look at BOTH models at the store.

Stephanie (chasmofbooks) Okay, thanks.

Anastacia *gaining love* Asbury my cousin fails in life officaly...she has never heard the cliche....or is it a saying...idk but she's never heard "Love is blind." HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!!!!!!!

message 810: by Anna (new)

Anna (SylviaGrant) That is very strange, I would think that everyone has heard that one time or another. I think it should be, "Lust is Blind" instead because people do quite rash things when they are lusting after someone....oh well.

Only when you are older and wiser will you learn how to tell the difference between love and lust. Falling for someone confuses all your hormones and your ability to define logic goes out of the window!

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Hi Sharon

I think we are all busy at this time of year preparing for one day where we all stuff ourselves senseless and then spend the next few months trying to get rid of the excess pounds!

message 813: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) This is very true, and I can honestly say, I am nearly all done. We had a practice run this weekend with friends over for dinner. Got to say it went pretty well ;o) How are you?

Not too bad not ready for christmas going shopping with Alain and Sophie on wednesday. Decided to do lots of little starters and people can choose one two or three, mussels in puff pastry coquille st jacques, stuffed oysters prawn and avocado cocktail in a little glass and maybe a egg and bacon on fried bread with tomato and mushrooms and frogs legs and snails! Which I hasten to add I am not eating!

message 815: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) I would not mind trying the frogs legs but you can keep your snails - LOL

The idea here is to put everything into glasses from apperatifs to starters a crunchy layer, creamy layer and a coloured textured layer! Or build towers with everything layered. I have square stainless steel food towers I use them to make burgers! Nouvelle cuisine type of stuff with decorated blobs of sauce on the plates. Chi Chi food! But I like the idea of the sushi omlette with ham, cream cheese and chives or prawns and cream cheese rolled in smoked salmon strips!

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) I will be making sweets this year. I made peppermint creams last week, and I have to make chocolate truffles and fudge. Looks like I am going to be busy ;o)

Make some mendiants discs of plain milk or white chocolate with nuts and dried fruits on or candied orange peel with dark chocolate! I have a recipe for ganache somewhere I'll try and find it how about coconut ice and caramel?

message 819: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) I was thinking of it, but I don't have the place to store it all. Was thinking of doing the Chocolate Bark. But I would be more then happy for your ganache receipe please :)

Anna (SylviaGrant) Hey Guys....ladies....whatever I am working on yet another story, it's from a horse's point of view as it is forced to leave home and it's owner then goes to battle and it's sorta like Lassie. Advice and suggestions and tips would be helpful.

message 833: by Irene (new)

Irene (wingdesilverii) | 2500 comments Does the horse have complete thoughts or scattered ones? If it has completed ones does it understand? Male or female?

Anna (SylviaGrant) Gone With The Wind: An instant classic and the most popular love story that has endured it's early years and has soared to the best-seller list many times. Scarlet O'Hara the brave, strong, beautiful woman both Ashley and Rhett can't help but love has been called the heroine of this famous story and movie. Her famous line, "Fiddle Dee Dee" is as popular as she is herself. However many of her characteristics are most desirable: fierce, determined, and ambitious however she's also vain, selfish, manipulative, and unkind. Yet Rhett falls in love with this woman, some may say that it was her beauty and strong will that was the reason why Rhett loved her but that isn't so. Rhett might have chosen her as his wife but that doesn't mean that she was completely in love with him. Her eyes were focused on a different sort of man and his name is Ashley...as you know him as Melanie's husband. Scarlet is never content with any man she married to (which happened to be three times). I don't know what Rhett saw in her, maybe it was beauty or just maybe her strong-willed character?!

message 841: by Irene (new)

Irene (wingdesilverii) | 2500 comments I think it was her beauty and strong will most likely.

Anastacia *gaining love* Asbury is anyone on???????????????

Rishika | 233 comments Hey i just started wring a book, I just want to know how many character profile should we make?

message 848: by Irene (new)

Irene (wingdesilverii) | 2500 comments Rishika wrote: "Hey i just started wring a book, I just want to know how many character profile should we make?"

I just make profiles for my main characters then add on as I go along.

message 849: by Rishika (new)

Rishika | 233 comments Irene, oh ok so did you just started wring a book? or else have you done it before?

message 850: by Irene (new)

Irene (wingdesilverii) | 2500 comments I have written a nearly complete book(s) yes, but I have other side pieces that are better examples. Once I get my piece started I create character profiles that I add to as I write.
