That's it for today all this exercise is one day! Not to mention the smell from the varnish getting right up one's nose!

There was a window open upstairs, slightly open. It's probably why I don't have any pain in my knees after inhaling the fumes for two hours!

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) That is something at least! We have lovely clear skies here at the moment, even that yellow thing is shinnning, not sure how long it will last though.

What's it shinning up? Lol our blue sky is under threat from big grey clouds and I should be thinking about cooking lunch but can't be a***d! Looks like being Couscous and duck breast, that only takes a few minutes to do!

It was yummy! Alain's taken Eclair with him to the house, bless him he thinks Hugo is hiding behind the chair he keeps going to the chair and whining for me to move it so he can get out.

I am up to chapter 16 with my reading so it looks like it will be Tuesday after all when Paul gets the Menorah Murders!

This is unexpected for us today, according to statistics France had 89% less sunshine this January than last year at the same time!

Us too but not until later in the week here in Brittany, but then if it happens they say we will get it for at least 3 days. We shall see. Did you sort your little dilemma? Did the piece I sent you help out?

No rush I won't be sending it until Tuesday, I have to go into town, fetch some mussels for supper and take a quick look at Sophie's school. The actual tour takes two hours and my knees are hurting. Lol the effects of the varnish have obviously worn off!

I just got my first review for Cally's Secret, a five star review at that. Why not pop along to Amazon and take a look inside Cally's Secret, make this author's Sunday a happy one!

i coudnt see it, really want to read it but I've forbidden myself, at the moment; to buy more books, already have 400 in my kindle. I'm a bookoholic

I think you can borrow from the kindle library too, for free! I still get paid and you can still do the review too. The links above go take a look, and join Kindle prime!

I'll join the kindle prime once i finish the beautiful creatures trilogy. It's a good idea

Yep I am, I showed Alain and he's thrilled too, it means people are taking notice! A good end to a bad week. I'll immortalise Hugo in HOD or GOD, I did the same for our first dog, Daisy in Cally's Secret!

That would be great Eva. I looked into advertising on Goodreads, it was expensive, likewise Facebook. I'll see what Paul has in store publicity wise and meanwhile I'll keep plugging it on Twitter and Facebook myself!

So do I, I already earmarked the pool I want online, the nice guy at Dolphin said I would have to wait approxiamately 3 months from order to delivery! Lol all that's left now is to sell approximately 6000 copies! Tall order I know but when The Menorah Murders joins it on Amazon it will help, the more of my books there are out there the better chance I have of achieving my goal!

do you know how the bestsellers works amazon for kindle? I've heard a few writers offer their books for free for maybe a week, the more downloads you get the higher you are on the list, then price the ebook to like 99p and then after another week put the price up again. At least i think that's how amanda hocking did it.

nope, but you need to do everything yourself, design the cover and the formatting, wich is a right pain in the backside.

By the way, if you guys are inspired can you have a quick look at my first chapter. I would appreciate the feedback

It just requires patience and tenacity, luckily I was endowed with oodles of both!Blooming good job I was or I would have never finished Cally's Secret let alone The Menorah Murders.

Amazon also has the final say on the book, its contents and it won't let you finish the upload until you address any errors it finds, especially spelling and grammatical errors, protecting the integrity of the site is very important.

message 8139: by Adriana (new)

Adriana | 13 comments OK, so the part I hate the most about writing is the one or two paragraph book description that's going to sell your story to readers. I always just want to hand my manuscript to someone and say "Just read it," but I know its necessary to have a good description to hook people. So I was wondering if maybe some of you could read what I've got going on in my head right now and let me know what you think. Good, bad, or in between please give me your feedback. Honesty may make me cry but it will--hopefully--make me a better writer.

Thanks in advance for all your help. Here it is:

A life she couldn't remember...

Kari Tucker was the typical high school senior, stressing over grades and worrying about getting into a good college, until she passed out one night at the mall and woke up in a stranger's bedroom. Her life soon becomes anything but typical. Why does the stranger who kidnapped her seem so familiar? What's up with the bright orange ring of fire burning in the sky? Why does everyone keep insisting she's speaking a foreign language? And what does the strange X-word everyone keeps spewing at her actually mean?

It isn't long before Kari realizes she's a lot further from home than she ever imagined, and that's only the beginning. What if everything she thought she knew about her life was a lie?

It's a synopsis you need to write, without that no publisher will take your book seriously and from which you write your blurb for the back of your book.

I'm planning to do self-pub on Kindle. I've done the Agent dance and never gotten very far. So I was trying to come up with the paragraph or two to use for my book description on there.

Yes I know the dance two steps forward and five steps back, been there, done that, got the t shirt etc.. So it's your blurb you want help with okay, I will take a look at it for you tomorrow.
