Is that it until after Christmas for you? I just checked on Sophie's doll, not cleared customs yet, so that won't be here for tomorrow. I suppose blooming customs are working to rule too!

That's mean... Alain is off now for the week and its at times like this I am glad I don't have to go to work at Christmas any more. For years I worked every Christmas eve right up until the last minute and back again the day after boxing day.

Have you got to work the weekend too? It's Sophie's spectacle tonight they are performing a little play, not the nativity odly enough they don't seem to do that here... Bizarre in a Catholic country.... We are going to take the children to see the lights in Mantilly and Mars D'Egrenne over the weekend and the creche in the church.

You had me worried there...Well I had better tidy the kitchen up and get something out for tea and in case my tablet doesn't pick up an internet signal down at Jo's I will wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and I'll talk to you again next Thursday if not before.

Jo has no internet for the moment so we will try and sneak out to the bar where they have wifi connection so I can say hi to everyone!

Poor you all alone on Goodreads Chat on Christmas Eve, my tablet decided to play silly beggars even when I went somewhere with WIFI it still wouldn't work!

I came back to a computer with three security breaches all clean again now I wouldn't mind but I checked Friday before I went away and everything was fine and it's been switched off since then so how did the buggers get in!

message 7314: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Hi, How was your christmas? Did Sophie like her present?

message 7315: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Sharon wrote: "Hi, How was your christmas? Did Sophie like her present?"

Yes She loved it thank you, she keeps trying to read the letter from Dolly but she is struggling I gave her a rough translation and said she needed to keep trying. The cuddly horse she called Dolly and went to bed with her in Normandy.

Christmas was okay, it was nice seeing Jo and the children but Herve was in arsehole mode because I marinated the wild boar in apple juice and calvados without asking his permission and Alain decided to side with him! Wrong move on his part because I refused to speak to either of them the rest of the day!

Jo has had a talk to him and told him she is never rude to his mother and he should apologise to me.

Why out of all the men in France did she have to choose an arsehole! She asks herself the same question on a regular basis.

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Men are always like that. Glad Sophie liked her pressie, did yours arrive?

message 7317: by Sarah (last edited Dec 27, 2012 02:44AM) (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Sharon wrote: "Men are always like that. Glad Sophie liked her pressie, did yours arrive?"

No not as yet, but then again Sophie's Bratzillazs doll still hasn't arrived either and that was due here by the 21st!

Customs are probably being arseholes and opening all the parcels looking for drugs and contraband! I heard they are working to rule, it didn't say whether it was French, or who the post people too.

At least my tablet is back connected to my WIFI I don't know how it got switched off in the first place! No wonder I couldn't get on in the bar and it wouldn't let me in to the list to look at what was on or off either. It's probably the blonde model!

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) That is so wierd, my Parcel to Spain got there. God help them, they probably thing the oxo cubes are drugs!!! The Post office guarnteed that it would be there before Christmas. It makes me so mad.

Yes, me too, poor sophie was looking forward to playing with her new doll with Manon.

As long as they don't confiscate my oxo's I asked my ex to send me some clips for the greenhouse and I never received them, he claimed the money back in the end from the post office.

message 7320: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) There was some horse leaflets for Sophie as well. :o(

message 7321: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Lol we had to wash the dogs last night when we got back they were filthy, they can roam free down there because there are nothing but fields around and about!

They had both got fleas from the pupppies, I found two that survived both the shower and the anti flea shampoo when I combed Hugo so they are going to get frontlined again later too.

Alain left his shoes in one of the outbuildings when he went hunting with Herve and the dog they rescued decided to eat one of them to punish us for not letting him come inside in the warm with our two! I laughed, Herve warned him not to leave his shoes outside for that very reason. So far Wilson has destroyed baby Hugos Clarks sandals, Leons brand new trainers, three pairs of wellies and Alain's shoes. I said they need to take him to the SPA (French RSPCA) and let them find him a new home.

:o( bummer.... have you tried tracking the parcel online? At least you will know who to blame!... I am sneezing my head off and I'm freezing cold.

We hardly ate anything over Christmas as Jo said we like the idea of pigging out but actually doing it after you've spent hours cooking it is another matter!

I said next Christmas Eve we are having a buffett and anyone that wants to eat can when and how much their little heart's desire!

Yep and I thought our Hugo was bad he has eaten an old pair of slippers and an old pair of heels of mine but he is a puppy and not of course forgetting his penchant for electric cables......

message 7325: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Thats a good idea. Me and Monst went round our friends and we had chinese on Christmas Eve. It was perfect.

message 7326: by Sarah (last edited Dec 27, 2012 03:15AM) (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Sharon wrote: "Thats a good idea. Me and Monst went round our friends and we had chinese on Christmas Eve. It was perfect."

Yes I might do something like that with spring rolls, and ribs, rice, fried rice, and chop suey and sweet and sour chicken and a gateaux for pudding. I have four sets of dishes with the warming candles underneath that way I can do a hot buffett, and plastic throw away plates and glasses neither of us are going to be washing up!

In fact I may even do it for New Years Eve, it's too late to be eating at 10 at night and then expecting to be able to sleep later! Mother can like it or lump it.

message 7327: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Perfect idea. What do you do for New Year? We are just having a buffet with friends. The boys will be in the garden having a bonfire, us girls will be inside chatting, and listening to music.

message 7328: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Sharon wrote: "Perfect idea. What do you do for New Year? We are just having a buffet with friends. The boys will be in the garden having a bonfire, us girls will be inside chatting, and listening to music."

We, sorry. I'll rephrase that, I usually run round like a silly bugger cooking a meal that no one wants to eat because they are fed up with roast dinners and usually I get lumbered with mother and Gerard because Alain feels sorry for him being on his own. He pigs his way through 1 dozen oysters and smoked salmon and prawns and drinks his weight in wine and then I have to take him home at which point I come back and have several drinks so Alain has to take mother home because no matter how many times we say stay we have a spare bed she won't...

So Gerard doesn't like Chinese or rice so tough that's what's on offer so there's no point in inviting him! Last year he turned up here on Christmas Eve dressed in his old clothes; he hadn't washed or shaved and he was drunk and obnoxious!

message 7329: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments I had better think about what we are having for dinner... Chips and steak I think simple and quick because they way I feel today the last thing I need to do is spend hours cooking!

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) How rude, I would have told him that there was no room at the Inn ;o) hee hee

message 7331: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Sharon wrote: "How rude, I would have told him that there was no room at the Inn ;o) hee hee"

He didn't bring so much as a bottle of wine or chocolate for the children, just his dirty smell self. He got as far as the main course and said he wasn't hungry but still he kept drinking. I told Alain to take him home before I was tempted to kill him.

Lol a bit like Mrs Robinson! No me neither.

message 7334: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Have you heard from her over Christmas?

message 7335: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Sharon wrote: "Have you heard from her over Christmas?"

Yes, yesterday she phoned but my phone was out of charge it rang but cut out before I could get to it. Though I knew it was the ringtone I gave her so I didn't break my neck in order to get to it!

She's got her money through but she is still waiting for them to find her a flat - what gets me is that she will get everything paid for for as long as she wants it while others have to look for work and they will pay for French lessons for her!

message 7336: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) That's a bit unfair, how did she worm that one?

message 7337: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Sharon wrote: "That's a bit unfair, how did she worm that one?"

Because she worked for a few months and the woman didn't pay her the SMIC and she had promised to pay her contributions and didn't I think. She is taking her ex-employer to court too.

message 7338: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Blimey, she obviously knows how to play them.

message 7339: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Sharon wrote: "Blimey, she obviously knows how to play them."

yep. I'm not bothering to reply to her message she is back in seglien and will expect me to run over there or fetch her for New Year...IN her dreams....

message 7340: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) You will never get rid of her.

message 7341: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments That's why I am not goin over there, I refuse to get lumbered, she is not my responsibility and I am keeping it that way.

I told Alain if we eat here New Years eve it's Chinese so don't even think about asking Gerard to join us - I am cooking Chinese and nothing else!

message 7342: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Good for you. What did he say to that?

message 7343: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Sharon wrote: "Good for you. What did he say to that?"

Nothing, bizzarely enough because Sophie said Yummy and was I making spring rolls...like at the Chinese and I said better than theirs, and crab claws and prawns in batter and wontons and chicken chop suey, and sweet and sour pork and spare ribs. It all depends on who is coming to eat with us I suppose I can make the spring rolls and wontons the day before and freeze some because I always make to much! Last time I made a Chinese it was for 46 people!

message 7344: by Sharon (new)

Lol there will be enough food to go round several times! I have all the proper bowls and dishes and chopsticks for 8 people too. Ooh and I forgot the sesame prawn toast!

message 7346: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) I can not use chopsticks, but I will give it a go ;o)

message 7347: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Sharon wrote: "I can not use chopsticks, but I will give it a go ;o)"

It's not easy I know. I can pick up a grain of rice with them though the Chinese tend to use them to scoop food from the bowl into their mouths as oppose to picking up grains of rice!
