Maybe we should form a comedy double act and do a Jasper Carrot type routine!

I just turned the fire down, it went cold so I gave it some air and whoosh now I'm toasty, it's so cold here today and we have had a few flakes of the white stuff too, hasn't settled though.

I suppose we will all be digging up our manicured lawns and planting veg. When my eldest two were small their dad was out of work for 3 years, we managed, I made everything bread, biscuits, cakes, jams, chutneys, wine, beer, clothes - I guess we will have to go back to DIY and if you can't make it, grow it, or brew it you can't have it!

Last night and today I have been knitting wraps for Barbie dolls in fluffy cheap wool, barbies clothes are dearer than clothes for Sophie at 10 Euros a dress! And they fall apart after playing with them for a couple of hours!

Loved what you said Sarah. I have just got a new front room all by stealth with no money I have had a brand new capet laid in front room, stairs and landing, my nearly new sofa that cost £50 a one seeter chocolate brown leather chair to match also nearly new, a friend had one that just happened to be a perfect match. Then yesterday went to a warehouse where I bought a single recliner for £50 because they said it didn't recline. I na few seconds of being in my house my very clever partner bent some metal and now it works. Of course things are very up and down when you have no money extreme highs and the pits. Still I am like a cheshire cat at the moment. You sound equally resourceful. And yeh, I think we would make a great comedy team.

Hi Trish what's your book? My first book The Tethered Unicorn, is free tomorrow. I wouldn't recommend anyone here reading it though because none of you would ever speak to me again and i didn't have enough money to get that one edited. I would be happy to take a look at yours but i think you guys are probably way ahead of me in this game. Anyway Trish I wish you all the luck in the world. It isn't easy.

Good night all. Partners coming to mine for tea for once. I am thinking curry.

What say I get your book and read it anyway, I'll make notes mark all the corrections I can see and you send me a copy on a disc or via email I can go through it and edit it you can do the corrections and put the newly edited version up on line and see if that helps with sales. I will be kind, but I will be ruthless in scalping what I consider is irrelevant or changing stuff. It's your choice whether you go with my changes after or not.

It means extra work for you, but it may help sales, think about it and let me know.

And if we have to go back to the days of bartering I will have everything I need, one way or another, like I said I can cook - chef for hire for a special meal, wedding recption - what do you have to offer in return?

I can sew, getting married need a wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses but can't afford to pay £500 quid I can do it what do you have to offer me in return?

Need an interpreter I'll do it if you'll dig my garden, paint my ceiling, mend my car.....

I'll be alright Jack!

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Morning Sharon,

This week seems very long, got the girls again for lunch, must remember to ask Alain when he's over to take the sign that says mug off my back!

Though at least I know Sophie has eaten well this week and the two are now tucking into the last of yesterdays spag bol! What I am having for lunch I have no idea!

Just had flash of inspiration bacon, egg chips and beans I think! I have the men working on the house tomorrow for lunch, raclette I think and an apple almond cake.

With raclette there is no need for a starter but I think I will make some vegetable soup because it is blooming cold here and they will be working in cold damp conditions laying concrete!

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Morning,

Already the day from hell for me. Got in to work at 9.45. Train broke down twice and to top it all the carriage I was in (typical) came away from the main train. Thankfully we had broken down when he realised. We didn't until he mentioned that he had reattached the carriages (when we finally got an announement).

I think that calls for compensation for traumatising you, go for the jugular, what could have been if the carriage had uncoupled at speed, need to go home stressed, and I think in a taxi too traumatised to get on a train in fear of your life, and send the bill to the train people!

Hi Sarah, That is a fantastic offer and I really appreciate it.The book is sick and very dark and you wont like me after reading it because a lot of it's true. I don't want to loose friend. I have changed genre's for the book i have sent Emme and have improve a great deal since that first book and will publish all my next books under my real name.

I will send it to you but I don't have an email address. As for bartering, I am very happy to do that but i am quite dumb with most other things. I love children and can sort out people's children (not my own)behavioural problems, I can paint and draw. Good with people. All those skills that will never earn me a living. I can decorate and design. However, there is so much I can't do.

My cooking is terrible and is such a joke in my family that when I do try something new nobody eats it. The dog is very fond of my food and is the only one who seems to appreciate it. I am terrible with maths and had an awful time with it when doing my degree.

In short I am useless but if you ever want to visit Bristol you and your family would be made very welcome.

That sounds really scary. Years ago fter a heavy partying night in London I ran and got on the wrong train. It headed non-stop out into the middle of nowhere. It didn't stop and of course nobody got on or off, in fact there was only the driver. It finally stopped in a siding in a sea of railway lines. I screamed out as I saw the driver walk away. It would have been too dangerous to cross that number of lines, so i cried and screamed. Eventually someone came to my rescue and they drove the train back to the last station. That would make a good story 'The Wrong Train'.

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments You can draw, I can't well I used to do portraits from photos but landscapes I am rubbish at. Don't be silly, I won't judge you for telling your story, have you added the based on a true story on Amazon?

And anyone can cook if you read the instructions carefully and follow them to the letter, though my daughter can't make pastry even with my recipe (handed down from my mum).

And I can't do maths either so what, that doesn't make either of us thick, oh I can add up in my head, and do the basic stuff but after that I'm stuffed!

And thank you for the kind invitation, we may come to England one day in the future when I get brave again. Last time it made me ill for weeks afterwards, I did most of the driving! Need I say more!

Yes well done, now all you have to do is finish it a bit like me but at the moment I have zero inclination to do much at all so that's exactly what I am doing. Knitting barbie stuff, rugging and embroidery and sleeping. I will get back into the swing eventually I hope because 70,000 words is a lot to leave dangling!

Sounds like you need a pick me up, like Eva's Chocolate Digestives! Chocolate contains seratonin the happy chemical our body produces when we are happy! So yes chocolate's good for me!

They have to taste better than the cardboard sticks we have for appero, I have a recipe for that using a peppermint Aero, trouble is they don't sell Aero's here! I prefer the alcoholic version of that Get (green mint liqueur) and Kahluha chocolate liqueur if you pour them carefully you get a chocolate stripe at the bottom and the green stripe on top!

message 6886: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) How cool. We used to do a shot in the bar called a mint areo. It was a white chocolate liqueur with Creme de Menthe on top. It was heaven

Taste will be the same I imagine, blooming hard to keep them from blending though! They have two cocktails here using Ricard (like Pernod) a tomate which is pernod and grenadine and a peroquet which is pernod and menthe the some people like to put kiwi in its place! I just gave them a wide birth even having to pour the stuff makes me nauseous!

I love gin and tonic, though for years I would only drink it with bitter lemon, with me it was Pernod unfortunately for me it's popular here mostly with the men they're more than welcome to my share!

Thanks Eve, i am also useless at marketing. When Emme has finished with 'In The Devil's Own word's', I will certainly need some help marketing as i don't plan to put that one out for free. I have tried blogs but my books never upload so I kind of gave up. Have no idea how to do a web page.

I haven't received my anthology yet I hope it is here before christmas because I was hoping to have it as my Christmas read for when the family have pretended to love their dinner and gone off to cadge food off their various friends. They like lamb.
