Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Afternoon,

It has been non stop raining here today and we have been told on the weather today to expect a freeze at the weekend. Just what I need.

Much the same as our weather though it's not rained this morning much, and the sun is trying to force its way through. It rained most of the night and walking to the garage is treacherous I slipped this morning going to fetch the potatoes!

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments I'm thinking of making macarons tomorrow the posh ones as a trial for taking with me to Jo's for her to give as presents for the old ladies she cares for with Alzheimers - She won't have time to do anything like that so, I may make some mince pies too I have jars of home made mincemeat if I make some lemon curd I can make tart selections and a few cup cakes to made to look like animals that way the children can have something other than bought cakes too!

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Sorry not getting notifications. That sounds lovely. All home made cakes are the best, much better then shop brought.

No me neither I get every 1 in 6 I just keep checking every so often. You can't beat home made cakes and here if I want to make mince pies and lemon curds I have to either pay through the nose for the rubbish basic English stuff or make my own. Home made lemon curd is lovely and buttery and ever so easy to make, the mincemeat too and with whatever you want in it like I put dried apricots and pineapples in mine and alcohol!

message 6656: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Hmm sounds nice. What alcohol do you use?

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Sharon wrote: "Hmm sounds nice. What alcohol do you use?"

Depends what I've got! I like to use Cointreau or failing that Armagnac gives it a nice rich flavour.

message 6658: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Have never made my own mincemeat, but then it would be only me that eats it.

It makes a lovely present for someone who bakes especialy if you make little covers out of christmas paper for the tops of the jars and tie it up with red ribbon, maybe couple it with a silicon mould for tartlets and a recipe book, and a silicon pastry brush - they are brilliant- no more hairs on your pastry!

My daughter was running a fever with ear pain to her to the urgent care Saturday the dr there said it was a sinus infection gave us antibiotics that did not help. she was still running a fever with ear pain she stayed home from school and we took her to her dr yesterday and said it was a double ear infection on top of sinus infection gave us different strong antibiotics and said stop using the other ones

Morning Trisha, poor thing, earache is horrible, my dad used to put warm olive oil in our ears when we were little I seem to remember when we had earache and sinus infections I know all about. I eventually sucumbed to the sinus wash out, not nice at all. Glad to hear she's feeling better today.

Funny that maybe there is something magical about warm olive oil after all, I know the leaves have anti bacterial properties when taken as a supplement they rid the body of all toxins, takes about 6 months so they say.

http://www.ehow.com/facts_5478975_oli... Seems our parents were on the right track but they should have included ground cloves in the oil or garlic!

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) The same weather here. Just ran out to grab a sandwich, and it is icicle weather there.

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments We have had sausage au chou for lunch - sausage, onions, tomatoes, cabbage, carrots and potato casserole
the sausage onions and tomatoes are at the bottom in the middle is a layer of cabbage followed by a layer of sliced carrots and finished off with a layer of thinly sliced potatoes dotted with butter and cooked in the oven.

It is yummy and rib sticking but takes ages to prepare and disappears a hell of a lot faster!

Having Spag bol tonight with garlic bread. Just something quick and easy before madam gets picked up.

thats a firm family favourite in our house too, I don't do the garlic bread often but when I do I put slices of cheddar in with the garlic butter - God its good, but boy is it fattening!

They are cool might have to make those if I can find any strawberries here at Christmas. You could use marshmallows for the head with a liquorice string scarf, and cut bits for eyes and maybe the tail of a jelly crocodile (orange naturally) for a nose ice a cup cake with white buttercream or fresh cream and put santa strawberry on top!

Hi ShazzyLouLou how was England besides wet!

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Morning all, Its blooming cold here this morning and dry we watched the news last night and some parts of France have snow, lots of it!

Now for a nice hot cup of coffee I think, I have just opened FB pages for a French friend for a business, how she is going to work the page without a computer I am not quite sure, I told her to go take a look at a tablet for a cheap internet option either that or get herself a smartphone!

Morning ladies!
England was bloody sodden! I was in Exeter where all the floods etc. Considering my normal commute is less than a minute, I was less than impressed with my epic 2 and a half hour journey for what is normally 20 minutes!

Nippy but sunny today! How's everyone else?
x

message 6700: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Hey I have a 2 hour commute everyday there and back :o(. Apart from that, how are you?
