Just got back from town shopping for Xmas presents and food I decided to go without lunch seeing as I couldn't decide what I wanted and now I'm starving. I did marinade chicken pieces in buttermilk ready to try the kfc recipe out this evening with oven chips! So only half fattening and I economised on lunch so can't be bad!
But then I found a huge bar of milka chocolate with caramel on offer so that might end up being pudding - not so good!
Darkangel wrote: "Not too bad, glad it is nearly home time. How are you?"What size is Renee? They have some black snakeskin print leggins in Noz and a lovely pink beaded t shirt. They fit Sophie but she could do with a bigger top its a just fit!

oh dear, not good if you are trying to be good... My daughter and son in law say they go home from my house several kilos heavier-why I don't know because Jo cooks similar meals to me, she trained as a chef too! Though I have luxury ingredients in my freezer that their budget doesn't allow and that being so they tend to over indulge! like eating Cassoulet two portions at lunch - and another for supper the son in law that was. He loved my cassoulet, and the langue de boeuf in maderia sauce, even the baby liked that we took his out before I put the alcohol in though!
Morning, Renee is a UK size 6-8 (adult size), she is long and thin - lol
Not sure how long I will be around today, feel like crap, it came back with avengence today :o(
Aww Angel - sorry you're feeling poop. I'm sending you a virtual lemsip.Sarah - how did the KFC chicken go? I STILL haven't got around to trying it!
Awww. Nasty when its gets you like that. Hopefully some rest and some duvet days over the weekend and you'll be right as rain. It is annoying that these things always happen at weekends though isn't it? Tues- Thurs is the best time to be ill i reckon!
True, get plenty of time off work, but then still have to come back to a ton of work - so unfair.Anyway, how have you been?

Delicious, we are having the rest of it freshly fried for lunch not sure if the herb mix I used is the same as you guys have so i will send it to you all again. Some mean person tidied my desk! Couldn't find the other one but I did use the buttermilk with a little dash of pepper to marinade for a few hours beforehand. We had chicken breasts which I halved for easier cooking and marinating.
That being so I have only eaten KFC twice in my life so it really needs an afficianado to try it for the real result - my herb mix didn't include any salt except celery and onion salt! I was worried about the amount of salt in the other recipe!

Okay if she has long legs the trousers might be too short - Sophie is 149 cms tall and they are perfect for her the top would be great though. I bought her some boots with medium heels and faux sheepskin lining with the trousers and the top you could mistake her for a girl of 16! Dangerous - the little minx wanted a pair with 3 in heels and I said no - repeatedly until she sulked- she even tried tears!
Sounds like you have the strain Jo had but then again you also have Jo's secondary problem the Asthma perhaps it's connected to that.
I am having that problem at the moment. Madam whipped out a pair of heels she had hid from her mother and I had a go at her. SHe is 12 not 18. She didn't like it.
Darkangel wrote: "I am having that problem at the moment. Madam whipped out a pair of heels she had hid from her mother and I had a go at her. SHe is 12 not 18. She didn't like it."Think back, didn't you do the same? My mum let me have heels at 13, high ones too, and I didn't get up to no good, well not the boy kind. I let jo have heels at about 11 little kitten heels, we have been there with those with Sophie kids grow up fast these days. Though it's easier for me to control Sophie here, there's nowhere for her to go without us, we live in the middle of nowhere 9 kms from town and when we move it's 11 kms! We take her out to organised school events with us and supervise her every move. Alain will be so damned protective of her he will probably go with her to the nightclubs to keep an eye on her!
And I think it's best for her to be able to be upfront with someone because going behind everyones back could be worse.
Newspapers critiscise mothers for allowing their children to dress as adults - err what choice do I have she is the size of an adult, she takes the same size shoes as me and Jo and Sophies clothes fit Jo!
I don't mind a small heel, but she took out over 4inch heels. I wore heels from about 15 if not 16. We live in Essex, and if I am trufully honest, she is dressing like a tart with the amount of make-up she wears and dresses that are no longer then a long t-shirt.
Sarah - Can you message me the recipe again? I've lost it. *blushes* Simon is the real aficionado so I'll test it on him. Chicken breast sounds much better - I'm not overly keen on chicken on the bone. I know it tastes better etc but that's just me.Some days I'm glad we can't have kids. If we had a daughter she wouldn't be allowed out of the house till she was 30 and I'm sure Simon would make her wear a chastity belt until she was like a hundred!! Dogs are much easier! :-)
morning girlsFomatting finally over, woop woop. But we need more authors next time, the whole anthology doesn't even reach 21k, but anyway, cant wait to finish, now just need to load it and concetrate n the cover, Sarah, have you finished the blurb?

As for makeup Jo is going to show Sophie how less is more - and that she doesn't need to look like Aunt Sally to be pretty, and that modesty is better than flaunting it.
Hey I must have got it right Jo never got into trouble and Sophie won't be allowed out of Alain's sight-any boy that's brave enough to knock at our door will probably be greeted by Alain and his shotgun!

Yeah kids, who'd have em but I'd rather have daughters than sons I feel sorry for Jo with 2!
Sons are easier for a father to deal with though! Men were boys once and know exactly what boys wanna get up to with their daughters!! Double standards much?lol
email addy is s_lipman@sky.com
Thanks love!

not a problem I'll send it through now.
I added half a teaspoon of salt and the same of thyme as well as a veggie oxo crumbled in it and I omitted the all spice as I can't find where I hid it - piment Jamaique is it's French name you could use a little pinch of clove and a pinch of nutmeg to replace it or like me leave it out. I didn't have onion salt so I used 1 1/2 tspns of garlic powder!

Darkangel wrote: "Going home. Speak to you all soon, don't think I will be in work tomorrow."Get yourself curled up under the biggest duvet you can find and stay there let the culprit who gave you the lurgy run around after you for a change!
Hope you feel better soon.
just got the recipe - thanks love. How long did you marinade the pieces in the buttermilk for? Presumably you take it out of the milk, cover in the flour/herb mix and then fry right?
ShazzyLouLou wrote: "just got the recipe - thanks love. How long did you marinade the pieces in the buttermilk for? Presumably you take it out of the milk, cover in the flour/herb mix and then fry right?"I marinated it for about 5 hours and then again overnight. yep pick each piece up with a fork and let it drip for a few seconds then drop it into a bag with the flour herb mix in. Messy but efficient
I just guessed the flour I'd say a good half cup to two tablespoons of mix if you have a mortar and pessle you could grind the mixture up so all the herbs are reduced to powder too.
Then shallow fry it in a large non stick frying pan on a low light so it cooks through - the last thing you need is uncooked chicken - though with garlic in I can't see how you could get salmonella - doctors told me that is a protector against contracting it and alcohol too! After the fact naturally - Lol I didn't get it from chicken either it came from undercooked steak!
If you don't have buttermilk use natural yoghurt I imagine it wouldn't make any difference.
Alain is loving this chicken we had it last night for supper and again this lunch he reckons masterchef!
EEEW! Salmonella is NASTY!I'm an definitely giving this a go. I'm in the UK for work next week - BOOOO, but I am definitely trying this when I get back. Maybe I can do it for my hoards of visitors. Who doesn't like fried chicken?!

Tell me about it, it took 3 months to clear my system and 8 weeks off work recovering - I lost 25 kilos in 2weeks - ended up in hospital where they diagnosed Salmonella and then quizzed me on where I'd eaten and what two days before I started being ill - 48 hour incubation period apparently!
What threw the doctor is that normally you are sick too but I wasn't just had the runs. Like I said I'm weird. He eventually came to see me took one look at me and rang for an ambulance!
Which is why now I cook with garlic and alcohol and never use recipes that require raw eggs!
Everyone loves fried chicken, with salad, and potato wedges and I have a gadget that wedges potatoes but usually I'm too lazy to get it out so I buy frozen ones!
Nice to meet you Trisha - I haven't been around for a while but its nice to see some new faces.Don't be discouraged! What are you working on?
Sarah - I have a potato wedger, its called a knife! Tee he he!
Trisha wrote: "Feel very discouraged today and just want to sulk"Why? You haven't been listening to your sister in law's critism again have you!

Yes me too but I broke my favourite Kitchen Devil cutting a slice of Viennetta! I have had it for years, I ended up with stiches in between my thumb and forefinger thanks to it and I still can't figure out how the knife was wedged in the potato after it cut me down to the bone!
The wedger is brill works on fruit too, has a seperate attachment to core and wedge apples! I used it alot in the restaurant.
ShazzyLouLou wrote: "does it look like a disk with handles on the side, a hole in the middle and segments around it?"No its a three legged monstrosity which you screw the blades into which are conical in design with a hole in the middle with the segments around it for coring the apples and the other is just segmented with a spike to hold the potato in place while you push the plunger down, catering equipment as oppose to kitchen equipment.
The whole thing is cast aluminium with stainless steel blades! Great if you want to wedge for France!

I have not sold any books in awhile, I can't seem to get any writing done.
I am trying not to give up but it is starting to feel like I should
At the moment I doing nanowrimo
You need to take a break clear everything from your mind I think. This was started by the horrible comments from your sister in law and then self doubt creeps in. Maybe your story is causing the block, perhaps you need a change of Genre?
What other hobbies do you have? I like to embroider and sometimes when I am suffering from the block or feeling down I take out my embroidery and content myself to creating a masterpiece of a different kind.
We aren't robots Trisha our brains sometimes need a rest and NanoWrimo is not my idea of relaxation - more like a month of torture!
I haven't touched my WIP for about a month, what with school holidays and re-writes for the second book. I finally sat down yesterday and finished chapter 38 and today I started chapter 39 and because I have done other stuff in between my writing is flowing again.
Take a deep breath and get your knitting out - make Barbie clothes, embroider a tablecloth anything but writing for a few days. Cook until you drop just take a break. It works for me.
Its probably the winter blues - I am a Marian Keyes fan and she has suffered terribly in the past few years and has fought to bring herself out to the other side. She said in her recent newsletter she has spent a week recently where she thought she was lapsing back into depression, she couldn't get out of bed everything was to much trouble but she's beaten it again and is now on lockdown writing her next besteller - so when you are feeling down remember there are others out there worse off than yourself - your financial situation isn't dependant on your writing I don't think so take a break.
hey guys! got the formatting done, and the other lady from the charity seems a lot more helpfull, Lets see, I'll try with the cover tonight and see what they say. @Sarah, do you have the burb finished?
I don't get to do much relaxing the only time I get is during the day while kids r at school and hubby is at work. But I am going to school as well so I write to get away when I get done with school work. I love doing nano it clears ideas out that have nothing to do with my WIP.
My sis in law is a jelous witch and I have delt with her.
Xmas depends on my book sales I have to buy gifts for 20 people not including my hubby and kids( hubby and I already have the kids' gifts) and I am not buying expensive gifts but I have to buy them each something.
I have not written anything because I have not been home very much the past few days during the day or after hubby gets home he have been so busy I am feeling overwhelmed.

I don't know, are there any more stories for me to speed read and add to the list? If so send them through and I'll go through them this afternoon and finish it off for you this afternoon.
