That's a good idea, and i know that you are just brainstorming ideas but chill your jets, we haven't gotten this one printed yet.
Right, I'm about to shoot myself with the whole stupid logo nonsense, got an email back Barnardo's after I worked last night fixng the thing on the cover saying that they couldn't accept it becuase it wasn't big enough. I sent her one back this morning saying that unless they sent a picture of the logo with the guidelines of the cover creator, it wouldn't accep it.
I even said that I have to pull a book together and print it in less than 2 weeks and if i knew that donating money was such a hassle i wouldn't have bothered in the first place. Once I calmed down i asked if it will be possibe to put the logo inside the book under the aknowlegments...

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Chill out Eva or your head will explode, I hope you told them at Barnardos that they were making hardwork of giving them money and not just thought it!

Our idea bouncing should make the next one pain free, if we can get some names to donate a story and Keith to act as agent someone else will do the worrying instead of you and the designing, formatting, etc....

If they continue being obnoxious I think we should go with St John's Hospice with this one too, stick that in your pipe Barnardos!

Make mental note buy new keyboard - Sophie and her computer games have kn*****ed this one! I have sticky keys which now I have to hit hard or they don't work!

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) And what did they say?

Okay going there now!

Been there, bloody awkward buggers aren't they - I for one vote we change charity and let me compose the letter telling them why!

Eva King | 1071 comments @Darkangel, can you find out if st johns are as fusy?

good, go for it

message 6359: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) re you not going to go with Barnardos now, after we said it was for a childrens charity?

message 6360: by Eva (new)

Eva King | 1071 comments I don't know, right now i fell like putting on ebook for free instead of using a charity, or even giving the money to barnarods but not using a logo....

message 6361: by Eva (new)

Eva King | 1071 comments you are right, changing charity seems like too much of a hassle, we only have 2 weeks and having to send all the stories again for approval is not an option. So I'm going to ask if maybe whithout the logo as a last resort...

message 6362: by Sharon (last edited Nov 13, 2012 05:34AM) (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) I am sure we can work it out some how. When they have Christmas cards, the logos are not big.

message 6363: by Eva (new)

Eva King | 1071 comments I know it will, but right now i want to punch a wall.

I'll start writing the letter now.

The letter is written it's up to you Eva, it's your baby - personally I would prefer not to donate the money to Barnardos after their 'non existent charitable aid' to people trying to do something for the good of others.

Children benefit from the hospice don't they? The stories are not child related as far as I can see from those I scanned yesterday for the blurb with the exception of the santa poem!

hold your horses! you know what i'm going to do? i'm goig to give them the password and id number for createspace so they can see how the cover creator works, then the ball is at their court.

They will say no - they are falling on their sword and cutting their noses to spite their faces for the want of a logo - they don't deserve the money!

Can it not go on the back of the cover? Hell it can fill the back of the cover Lol then they will probably complain that it's too big! We can't seem to do right for doing right!

message 6372: by Sharon (new)

message 6376: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Everything is available to download, from posters with or without logos to guidelines, to a donate page where we can accept donations on behalf of the charity if people just want to give hell they have even designed a press release template to download.

These guys will make it easy for us to help them help children.

I'd rather go with Great Ormonde Street to be brutally honest how much of the money will the Barnardos children actually see and how much will be swallowed up by administration costs?

message 6379: by Eva (new)

Eva King | 1071 comments Our case has been passed to the creative section of Barnardo's, maybe they will be able to help us, if by friday I don't have a solution we'll change to Great ormond. Don't say anything to them just in case, but I've got the feeling that this other lady won't be very helpful.

Okay I have the draft email in my box ready to send as soon as we need to I downloaded all the posters press releases and stuff I think the facebook page to donate would be good too!

I think Eva contacted Childline and they didn't even bother to reply!

Eva King | 1071 comments Darkangel wrote: "Hey girls, there is always Childline as well"

childline never answered to my email, as the other nspcc. it was only Barnardo's that had the decency to answer.

Morning Trisha, I'm fine I just released
stitch from prison I sent him there when he ran away this morning. There's me trying to get lunch ready for the girls and the pesky critter runs off and refuses to come in! He spent 4 hours in solitary confinement for his trouble!

Sharon Lipman (sharonlipmanauthor) | 272 comments Morning Angel! Long time no speak! You ok?

How's this anthology going? Sarah tells me you're having problems with charity and using their logo etc etc. Apparently they are being very uncharitable! Any solution in sight?

message 6392: by Sharon (last edited Nov 14, 2012 02:20AM) (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Morning Shazzy,

Not sure what is happening at the moment, Eva is dealing with that part.

How are you?

Morning all, impromptu meeting with my Landlord about missing slates and electricians this morning. He's just found out he will soon have to find a new tenant - and that is like playing Russian Roulette here the one before me didn''t pay her rent and was evicted!

He's a Yorkshire Terrier who has delusions of being a Rotweiller, who is disobedient, eats shoes, makes confetti of any paper which is left about and sometimes disgraces himself!

Sharon Lipman (sharonlipmanauthor) | 272 comments @ SArah, I can't complain to our landlord about the leaky roof or crap electrics, they're friends of friends and we're living here practically rent free.

Its a bugger we both have the same problems but my landlord is what the French call a 'Radan' roughly translates to a tight arse 'trop proche de son argent' who worships his money! I on the other hand pay through the nose for the privilege of crap electrics and leaking roof! Roll on the move!

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments anyone any ideas what I can have for lunch? I have everything from pork fillet to fillet steak, pheasant, chicken, Guinea fowl, pork chops, rump steak, rabbit, duck, lamb and sausages. Salmon and white fish I even have sea bass and and giant prawns, frozen mussels and queen scallops and I can't think of anything I want to cook let alone eat!

I think I have chef's block!
