message 6104: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi all,
I have been very busy today. I have been writing the second to last chapter of my book. It will be finished before the week is out. Day off tomorrow and am meeting up with an old friend from work who i haven't seen for ages.

At the weekend going to my favorite pub in Devon for the birthday of a really sweet old man he is 78 but acts half that age. Then on the second of November canoeing and camping in Wales. not so sure about that camping in the freezing cold, wind and rain doesn't sound too promising. my partner wants to buy a canoe, originally it was a kyak but when we tried that he kept turning over, he is a very large man and not really built for small boats. Does anyone know what you whear in canoes, do you wear wet suits or thick coats and then what happens if you fall in?

Then it will nearly be christmas. Where does time go? Sorry I haven't been round much but things will calm down again soon.

Are you all writing a book together?

Good night

message 6105: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Morning all,

Tarian, a few of us have wrote an antholgy of christmas short stories which we are doing for charity. I think we are hoping to do another one next year and would be great if you join in. Will send you an invitation to join the anthology, we might as well keep the group building up and maybe you can join the christmas card exchange for this year ;o)

@Eva, good question, maybe put the question to the group in the Christmas Anthology and see what we come up with!

message 6106: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Darkangel,
That is a brilliant idea. Where would I be able to buy your book? However, before you include me in on anything I have a confession to make. I am a terrible cook. My partner does most of the cooking as he is brilliant. I love eating food but after years of having to whip up meals for the kids after a long day at work my interest waned. The only thing I really enjoy cooking is cakes and bread but everyone is on a diet these days.My children constantly moan about my lack of skill and cook for themselves. They do allow me christmas dinner and make out that it was really good. I would love to impress them all this year. Therefore, can anyone recommend something ultra simple that looks good and is delicious. Or can you recommend any cookery books designed for idiots.

I am already panicking about the big day, three very hungry men, wives and girlfriends. HELP!

Good morning everyone, you all sound like such busy people, I don't know how you fit everything in.

message 6107: by [deleted user] (new)

Thanks for allowing me to join your secret group, it all sounds very exciting and i cant wait to read your book.

message 6108: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Tarian, it has nothing to do with cooking - lol, the theme was christmas and it was a few poems and short stories. The food on the anthology group, we thought would be just be for some fun to share christmas recipes. The book itself, has not gone to the publishers as yet, the charity are looking over the stories before we start that. We will be opening up a website very shortly.

message 6109: by [deleted user] (new)

Ok I knew the book wasn't about cooking but you all sounded so skilled I thought you might not want to know me as I am a rubbish cook. Just being silly, haven't had enough coffee yet.

I am looking forward to the book though it would be a great christmas present for my mum and my friends.

message 6110: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) That is fantastic. Thanks and next year, you can be in it too. All the sales will go to the charity, and we just get the pleasure of producing it and getting our names out there a bit more.

message 6111: by [deleted user] (new)

I would love that. Genius idea.
The weather is lovely here and i am having a day away from writing with an old friend. What are you up to?

message 6112: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) I am stuck at work, but the sun is shining at the moment. So that is not a bad thing, and we have here at work today, The Book People so just went a got a few books for christmas presents. (Nice and cheap)

message 6113: by [deleted user] (new)

The Book People used to visit the schools I worked in. I got some great books for my kid from them. Have a lovely day.

Morning or rather afternoon sorry I pulled all the junk out from under the stairs to see what I can get rid of - I have two carrier bags to get rid of full of stuff. I cleaned the floor and sucked all the dust bunnies up!

Now I have to get dinner on quickly then finish clearing the stuff away.

message 6116: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) I have not done much work at the moment, will be busy this afternoon though. ;o)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Morning Tarian

Were you thinking of making a traditional roast Turkey dinner or what?

I can give you recipes that are idiot proof that look and taste amazing if you want to wow - Let me have a think and make a couple of menus up for you.

Do you want something individually portioned do your guests all like chicken, smoked bacon and blue cheese? any vegetarians or fish eaters?

message 6118: by Eva (new)

Eva King | 1071 comments Afternoon girls!!!
Sarah, the blurb I was meaning is for the whole book, kind like a copilation of stories to curl up beside the fire and get the xmas spirit, something like that...
For the name I've called us the initial G R for goodreads and then the surname authors...maybe next year we could come with something more original.
@Darkangel you have email, i've design the cover, it's basic but it will do. tell me what you think!

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments How does this sound

Courgettes au gratin

Chicken Roulade, with baby vegetables and creamed butter beans

St Clements Trifle

Cheese and Biscuits

Coffee and Mr Kipling Mince pies with cream

It is all preparable in advance and easy peasy uses boneless chicken breasts! The dessert is no cook!
@Eva this would be a good menu for you except we would have to change the starter as an oven is required for the courgettes.

@ sarah Right cool, we'll start with that when we know from the charity...
@Darkangel, I was playing with their cover app and that's what came up, as I say is pretty basic, nothing fancy but it has the charity's logo, etc...

message 6126: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) I think it is fine, it catches the eye and does what it says on the front ;o)

Tis a fine night for haunting and things that go bump in the night!

Morning I just came back from town - needed a few bits for tonight and tomorrow mornings breakfast! Jo should be here around 10 tonight I'm going to make some finger cookies later after I wash the floor and some bannana waffles! Though where we live we don't get trick or treated - next year we will I suppose! There are a few children of Sophie's age at Penvern Lol all boys, exactly how it was for me when I was Sophie's age!

message 6137: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Morning, sounds like fun. Are you ready for your little trick or treaters, is Sophie dressing up?

By the time I get home, all the trick or treaters would have stopped.

Nearly and yes Sophie is a vampire or will be later tonight she tried her costume out last night too!

I have just spent ages looking for a bag of prunes! I will be glad when I have a big cupboard and I am going to invest in the pull out shelves/baskets that way I won't have to empty the cupboard to find stuff, the cupboard can come to me!

message 6139: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) What do you want the prunes for?

message 6140: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Darkangel wrote: "What do you want the prunes for?"

Lapin au pruneaux we were having it for lunch - now we will have it this evening with Herve and Jo.

I found what I am buying Hugo for Christmas a furry rocking horse! That's one sorted, I have to look for a small guitar for Leon now.
