I think I had a poem in one of theirs ages ago - The Candidate about the elections and canvassers driving me up the wall on their soap boxes outside my door, I had a go at the labour MP, he'd called me a door slammer in a terse piece in the newspaper in reply to an equally terse piece from me to start with and then he had the nerve to come down to my door and spout politics at me I told him point blank to do an about turn and get off my property before I called the police and as the penny dropped as to who he was talking to I said yes that was me and I bet you can guess what I'm about to do now can't you.... and then I slammed the door in his face.

We'd had loads of trouble from a strip mine behind us causing damage - the blasting was deemed illegal later. We used to watch as the plaster cracked when they blasted, I even invited the Coal Board into my house when the blasting was due to start and surreptitiously recorded the whole conversation and the blast and sent it to the newspaper! To corroborate my story. You should have seen their faces when the tape clicked off just as they were about to leave each of them backpedaling trying to remember if they said anything damaging or libelling!

Not had that much fun since granny caught her knickers in the mangle!

Sarah Weldon (sarahrweldon-author) | 6045 comments Hey did you see on the news that Twitter is finally taking action to stop those people selling followers, and penalising those who use them!

Every other tweet is some robot selling friends and the price ranges from 38$ to 125$!

The mp didn't quite see it that way, I ruffled his feathers in front of a party member who tried very hard not to laugh! And he lost his seat!

I agree, life without laughter would be boring, it prolongs active life! and like I said when I was 2 years old, your tat will tay unger wiv wonger on daily titetat!

Well I was only two and the adverts were better than the programmes, hell even the test card was better than the programmes and lets face it in the late 50's we saw more of the test card!

And then there was Sky! Hundreds of channels in a variety of languages and whole channels dedicated to sport, groan, and shopping, bigger groan and what did we end up watching - National Geographic!

I love it when the little guy wins against the big ones.I have got a very rich sister, she has never helped me out, we didn't even see each other for twenty odd years. As I had run away from home and was to scummy to be seen amongst the company she kept. The worse thing was that her husband worked in formula one. Both my sons were avid followers not once did they give them any posters freebies anything. She has only seen them twice in their whole lives.

The other week i emailed her and just in passing mentioned that i hadn't really sold anything and she replied, 'well at least it keeps you happy.' Deh! Still it's quite motivating when people wish you would fail.

If a cold caller comes to my house i just say I am not interested and shut the door. If I want something I will seek it out myself.

I have a very good tellescopic painting pole you could borrow it if you lived nearer.

Good afternoon everyone.

How is everything?

I quite agree Darkangel, laughter is the best medicine. That yellow stuff isn't here yet and my son back from Afghan is shivering.

Have a lovely rest of the day. Friday is supposed to be good.

message 5971: by [deleted user] (new)

Hi Darkangel,
Had a great day with my son yesterday, it was surreal couldn't believe he was here after so long. He is back at his place today but we are all going up for his medal parade on Friday. So be good to have some sunshine.

The free book thing isn't going great because amazon haven't got it on their free book page. But hay ho I shall just carry on with the next one.

How is everything with you?

message 5972: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) Well I got your free book yesterday.

All is good here. Glad you had a good day yesterday with your son. Don't forget the tissues on Friday, you know you will need them ;o)

message 5973: by [deleted user] (new)

Yes I shall take a whole box. I got a bit emotional yesterday too much excitment and too little sleep.

Thanks for getting my book yesterday, I really appreciate it. I feel that my writing has improved greatly since that one but if you do read some of it and have some tips, they would be gratfully received. I think my problem has been I have been rushing them out in about three months because everyone on KDP says you need lots of books on yours site, to sell anything. In my case i think that wasn't good advice. Its all such a steap learning curve. Still I shall keep climbing. Thanks again Darkangel.

message 5974: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) You are more then welcome. I noticed it was book 3. Does it follow on from book 1 and 2 or can you read it in any order?

Thanks does it come with the painter attached? We'll be looking for painting volunteers soon! You have family like me, one of my sisters has delusions of grandeur. Lol and she had the cheek to call me Hyacinth Bouquet behind my back, just because I lived in a big detached house while she lived in the semi. She was happy when my husband died and I fell on hard times due to his problem and when my car broke down on the way to his funeral (my brakes failed on the M1)

Sophie and I are lucky to be alive I asked her for a little help while my pension came through. She put the phone down on me. I let my little sister rub it in about my book being published. That will hurt, she thinks she is so clever, with her Grammar school education!

Have you had any new followers from Twitter yet?

I will read your book next, I have one or two marked to read in my kindle, I found a tablet for 99 Euros a 10 inch and I am going to buy it tomorrow. It will serve as my kindle my christmas present to me! I had a quick peak yesterday at the first page or so.

I think it's better personally to take your time and not be in too much of a rush to go to print. A professional editor is an advantage too, there are one or two advertising on Twitter who aren't too pricey - and of course there's Emme who edited for our anthology. She is very thorough and gives good feedback, makes you work through until you get it just right. Light the Seventh Candle is undergoing mega rewrites after Keith's comments I finished it last October and it still isn't ready to be launched on an unsuspecting public! I'm getting there slowly.

We pass on all our knowledge too, like highlighting thought in italics and not using capitals unless its something like AIDS - use italics and '' to emphasise the words. Tell not show - is another one we hear alot of and then we have someone like JK Rowling who tells he said, James said, Marian Keyes too - do we tell or do we show? Emme said its okay to tell when we use supposition but not too often, let the reader work out for themselves who it is.

It is book three but it can be read seperately. Its just some of the characters follow through from the first two books. The problem is 1 and 2 are my first books and I couldn't afford to get them edited. When I can I will get them edited. Also the first one is very dark and more true to life, it would be too much for some people. It was just something i had to get out of my system but book 3 does stand alone.

Thanks again for your support.

Hey Sarah, that is so helpful my partner is picking me up for tea in a minute but tomorrow I shall re-read your post. Thank you so much for your support, I can't believe how kind and helpful people are on here, compared to KDP. Thanks for getting my book.

My son has just bought a Kindle and said he would buy one for me at Christmas. I am not great with technology but I do like it. However,I am still not quite sure how Twitter works. I learn by doing so I guess I will just have to keep messing about until I get it.

Anyway I had better go he gets a bit annoyed if I am on the lap top all night. Thanks again. I might not see you guys tomorrow as I am off down to parents in Dorchester.

Just this week is so bad already I was just told by a person I thought supported me that I must be messed up in the head to write such a disgusting book.

To top it off the editing of one of my other books is not going well

I'm a very good mood this morning! Tomorro I should have Trishas story and will start formating (no idea how that's going to go...) maybe get a cover sorted and send it all on monday.

message 5986: by Sharon (new)

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) That sounds like a plan. I will be very busy today, so forgive me if I disappear for a bit. I have one huge clinic to type up from yesterday.

Going out for a meal with my partner on Sunday, hopefully it will be a bit romantic, and think I need to start getting a few more crimbo presents in. Only got a few stocking fillers in and it is not too far away.

I don't think so either, Charlaine harris uses a lot sex on her books true blood. At least is not erotica with zombies, now that would be disgusting!

It took me a while to figure it out log on to Twitter and go to home and followers and follow all the people who are following you - you simply click on the box and it turns from white to blue. At the side it has suggestions of who to follow click on their name and you can read their profile if they please follow them and see who follows back! Simple once you get the hang of it!

Sharon Atkinson (darkened_angel) That is not right. So it is ok for her to hurt your feelings, ut you can't say anything to her. Not right at all.
