Bill Cappoli | 2 comments I recently have gotten into the Daniel Silva novels, especially the Allon series. However, I have just started the last of the Allon series and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for similar series? I prefer series as I like to follow the characters development but stand alone novels are good as well. I really liked the Silva novels so anything that is similar should be good.

Thanks

Malia (pixieshot) | 4 comments I recommend the Sean Dillon series by Jack Higgins.
Sean Dillon is a Former IRA enforcer who ends up working for the British. Higgins novels are action packed and real page turners.

here are the books in order:

Eye of the Storm (1992)
Thunderpoint (1993)
On Dangerous Ground (1994)
Angel of Death (1995)
Drink with the Devil (1996)
The President's Daughter (1997)
The White House Connection (1999)
Day of Reckoning (2000)
Edge of Danger (2001)
Midnight Runner (2002)
Bad Company (2003)
Dark Justice (2004)
Without Mercy (2005)
The Killing Ground (2007)
Rough Justice (2008)
A Darker Place (2009)
Wolf at the Door (2009)
The Judas Gate (2010

Robert Hendry | 8 comments I would approach this from a slightly different perspective. I tend to judge espionage/spy stories against the backdrop of reality, and one of the best portraits of the real world of the KGB that I have read is Viktor Sheymov's "Tower of Secrets" We usually read about the prestigious First Chief Directorate of the KGB, but Sheymov was a roaming troubleshhoter for the Eighth Chief Directorate, which was in charge of communications. The guy eventually defected to the West hence the book.

Another entertaining read is is Viktor Suvorov's "Soviet Military Intelligence" which is about the GRU. "Suvorov" is a pen name taken from a legendary Russian general, and the account though "a great read" does at times embellish the facts. There have been some scathing comments about Surorov, but for atmosphere and the cynical nature of the espionage world, it is as good as anything in the fiction field.
