Marissa I think my favorite part of the book (other than the ending) was when Emmett was making all of those sexual innuendo jokes in front of Charlie. I wish we had gotten to hear more of them because it cracked me up! LOL!

message 52: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin Ryan, if I was Bella I would have freaked out at Jacob too! Even if it's not his fault, it's still her own daughter he's imprinted on! Plus, he thinks he has more of a claim on Renesmee than her own MOTHER does! It makes sense why Bella would be so angry.

message 53: by Elizabeth (new)

Elizabeth | 17 comments i thoguht when bella freaked up at jacob i started laughing so hard!!!!!!!!!! i thought it was ironic tht seth got in the way though..... and i totlly loved tht the book.

message 54: by [deleted user] (new)

Ah, Susanne, you are so right! Thanks for bringing us back to reality here! In a completely fake world, I guess it really doesn't matter if things don't make a lot of sense.

message 55: by Mccaul (new)

Mccaul (ryanmccaul) Sella, Jacob hadn't even 'claimed' nessie yet! Bella just started freaking out at him! I thought it would make more sense for bella to be relieved that Jacob 'fell out of love' with her!

message 56: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) Hahahah!! Susanne you crak me up.. besides, they DO explain the pregnancy but you're right, it's only fantasy, it's Stephanie Meyers story and if she wanted it to work out then it would and it did. lol!! I love it!!

message 57: by Mccaul (new)

Mccaul (ryanmccaul) I'm listening to Bd soundtrack! It's awesome!

I think that it's funny to be doubting what can happen in a Fantasy book.

message 58: by Cassidy (new)

Cassidy Savage (savagegy6) It was more than I could have hoped for! So in love! I'm not even done yet and I can't be more satisfied regardless! I was so worried she would flake out and not go through with any of the hints she was moving towards. I don't I've ever been so happy with how a series turned out. I wish this was going to just keep going and going...Lord knows we'd all buy them up with greedy hands. Aaaawwww...so good...once I finish I'm going to start them over again so I can read them all seamlessly for a more full effect.
Did anyone read the silly review on MSN about this series being a bad influence on young girls? Oh my gosh, it's so dumb. Why does everything have to be a role model for young people now? What's so wrong with parents taking the blame for having messed up their kids or not? Yes, because of Twilight I'm sure that 13 yr olds (or whatever) everywhere are going to run out and try to find an Edward of their own to die for or get preggers or something. Like they are all just dim light blubs.

I can not wait to see what Stephenie Meyers writes next.

Kasie | 27 comments i loved it and thats all i'm going to say.

message 60: by Mccaul (new)

Mccaul (ryanmccaul) Can you post the link for the interview thing?

message 61: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) Awesome songs!! You feel like you're part of the story!

message 62: by [deleted user] (new)

I thought it was good but was disapionted by the change in Bella's character. She turned into someone different. Edward's character was great but there wasn't enough of him. I liked Jacob better in this book best. The addition of new characters (all the new vamps) was great and brought diversity. It wasn't writen as well and didn't hold the same enthusiasm for me. The whole scene with the Volturi was drawn out the J. Jenks was simply confusing for a while. Other aspects like the pregnancy and Jacob's imprinting were very predictable. The entire thing felt rushed but also as if it wasn't going quite fast enough. All in all it was okay but didn't hold up to my expectations from the previous books

message 63: by Mccaul (new)

Mccaul (ryanmccaul) I was really hoping that i9t could've turn into a FIGHT with the Volturi! I wasnted to see Bella's power infull fight mode.

message 64: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) Well that was the point. Bella was awkward and clumsy and attracted trouble when she was a human, she never fit in. Now she found a world that she fits into perfectly. It's kind of like saying she was destined to be a vampire. Yah Stephanie should have made Breaking Dawn into 2 books because she had so much in this book that she could have worked from and extended. I agree about the J. Jenks thing, it was unnecessary. I loved the rest of the book though:)

message 65: by Mccaul (new)

Mccaul (ryanmccaul) Me too.

message 66: by Mccaul (new)

Mccaul (ryanmccaul) *gasp* How dare you three my two! Jk sorry bout the freakishness

message 67: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) I agree with you Cassidy, it's not like teenagers don't know what sex is anyways, even at ages 12 and 13. The way Stephanie portrays it is actually tasteful and tactful. She has her characters come of age and get married before they do the deed. I think it's actually showing the responsibility of waiting. It's not like she's throwing a 15 year old into a faithless relationship or anything. If any teen goes out and "does it" just because of the book, then the fingers should be pointed at the parents not at Stephanie. People always try to create drama out of nothing. Her series is so popular that they have nothing bad to say about her so they focus on stupid little things like her religion and the consumation event to create a stir.

message 68: by Cassidy (new)

Cassidy Savage (savagegy6) I can't find the review now, I'll post it if I find it again.
I think the only real disappointment is that it's over. I think I hear the "rushed" complaint for every last book in every series. I loved it, I didn't predict any of the turn of events and I'm glad. I'm content with the way it is, love it.

message 69: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) Good!! Yeah i agree, I feel like a favorite pet died. It's over the series is ended, I rushed through it at first but I read it a 2nd time to really appreciate it.

message 70: by [deleted user] (new)

I am the mother of three young daughters, so from a mothers perspective I have to say that my girls will not be allowed to read this series until they are MUCH older! I for one, can not believe the detail she gave to the love/sex scenes when she knew how young a lot of her audience is! Just because a lot of 12 and 13 year olds know what sex is, doesn't mean they need to read all about it at that age. You guys are right, it is parents who are responsible. So, as a very concerned parent, I will be closely monitoring what my girls read as well as watch now!
This is a good series, but being popular does not mean it is perfect, it does have its faults.

message 71: by Mccaul (new)

Mccaul (ryanmccaul) I wish the Wedding was more discriptive. It wasn't enough for me!

message 72: by Alexis (new)

Alexis (aesquibel25) Same here :)

message 73: by Vanora (last edited Aug 06, 2008 12:35AM) (new)

Vanora | 1 comments I was disappointed with Breaking Dawn. I think my disappointment is due to several things. 1) Too much hype for the book, you always expect so much and sometimes it's just not there; 2) it's the end of the saga, there is always some disappointment to the finale; 3) I felt there was TOO MUCH drama during the Jacob chapters; and 4) too many new characters introduced for an ending book.

I plan to re-read it in a few weeks and see if I like it better. I had to read New Moon twice before I liked it.

message 74: by Jaynie (new)

Jaynie | 1 comments I love Breaking Dawn and although it did wrap up perfectly... I wouldn't have been happy if it didn't. I am very sad it is over... however I did read a chapter from Meyer's website of Twilight from Edwards perspective and think maybe she is working on that as her next project... or perhaps it was just a tidbit like Kelley Armstrong does.

If you loved Twilight I recommend Kelley Armstrong books... but you have to start with Bitten!

message 75: by Maagzers (last edited Aug 06, 2008 01:48AM) (new)

Maagzers (soccerfreak) | 3 comments i loved breaking dawn.
i really did.
im pretty bummed out about the fact that its over.
i was a little let down when i discoverd tht there was no part of the book in edward's view.
oh well i guess thats what midnight sun is for.
hmmm, does anyone know if stephanie meyeris gonna do new moon, eclipse, and breaking dawn in edward's point of view or what..?

message 76: by Eleven (new)

Eleven I don't know how I feel about the book as a whole.......

but the relationship between Bella, Edward, Jake and Nessie. How it all worked out. Even if it all was a little strange.

"Goodbye Jacob. My brother. ....my son." That was perfect. That's what it knew........ I was like, somehow that works. SOMEHOW, that is perfect.

message 77: by Eleven (new)

Eleven That's when I knew* sorry I'm way sleepy

message 78: by Stacy (new)

Stacy | 5 comments Honestly I think that Breaking Dawn was pretty tame on the sex scenes and such. Especially compared to many other books in the young adult section. I would never let my children (If I liked children or had them) read the gossip girl series. Now that's scandalous.

message 79: by Julie (new)

Julie (onetrooluff) Stacy, I agree! I got one of the Gossip Girl books at a huge book sale on bag day, so that I could put it on BookMooch. I ended up flipping through it just out of curiosity and I was completely and utterly disgusted! Talk about skanky books for teenagers... no kid of mine is going to be reading those. Had to fight the urge to burn it instead of sending it out.

ANYWAY... to get back on topic (sorry, that rant just popped out up there...) I really liked Breaking Dawn. I didn't love it, although I think I might love it after a second reading. I was so shocked by some of the events in the book (pregnancy, imprinting etc.) that I was too busy being walloped upside the head to really appreciate the details for some of it.

I liked seeing Bella change. I think she matured once she knew she was pregnant - switched completely into motherhood mode and it affected all her decisions. Then when she finally became a vampire, it gave her a great deal of confidence and she'd really found her place in the world. It was so great to see her being such a natural at it! I also loved her talent, and the fact that in the end, she was finally able to protect everyone she loved!

I thought the sex scenes were anything but graphic. In fact I'm not even 100% sure I would call them sex scenes. It's more like, you got to find out a lot of Bella's thoughts about it, before and after, while skipping right over the "during." I think she kept it appropriate for a teenage audience.

I loved Edward in this book. His facade of perfection cracked and it only made him more interesting. All the time that Bella was pregnant, he was tortured because he was so afraid he was going to lose her, and was willing to do ANYTHING to save her. He did also grow into his father role though, once he could get used to the idea that the baby hadn't killed Bella.

Getting Jacob's perspective for a while was great too. Jacob had the best chapter titles ever - and I also really liked all the stuff that happened with the wolf pack(s), and seeing Leah find her own place away from Sam. I am thrilled that Jacob imprinted and that he's finally done pining for Bella.

I think the book really threw me for a loop (maybe several loops) on the first reading, but there are so many great parts, and I'm so happy that they all got their happily forever after, that I think I will love it on a second reading. It will also add more depth to the first three books for me, because I know that every bit of what they go through in those is a little piece of how they got to their happy ending. Bella was MEANT to be a vampire, meant to be with Edward.

I even love the cover now! I didn't hate it before - I just wasn't too keen on it. But now that I know what it means I think I am going to take my poster-cover off the Eclipse Special Edition and put it on the wall, something I never thought I would want to do. :D

message 80: by Cassidy (new)

Cassidy Savage (savagegy6) Did anyone read the "I'm In Agony" topic? Over dramatic and silly, I hope no one writes to that stupid e-mail. We love SM's work, while some were disappointed others were more than satisfied. You can't please everyone, it was impossible for her to do so...get over it and yourselves. Can we just have that topic deleted, it's insulting to all the SM fans...
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but she's also entitled to write HER stories about HER characters the way SHE WANTS, it's not our creation it's HERS! If you don't like it find something else or write your own. simple as that :)

message 81: by Katie (new)

Katie (labellavita575) | 6 comments It was a great book, with an interesting plot, and i loved the names of nessie. And the irony of how she was so graceful haha.

IT WAS GREAT however i stil liked the first one the best. And I wish Stephenie wasn't done writing books,
however we have midnight sun!

and i still need to read the host i hear its good, but nothing like twilight.

message 82: by Sella (new)

Sella Malin Sella, Jacob hadn't even 'claimed' nessie yet! Bella just started freaking out at him! I thought it would make more sense for bella to be relieved that Jacob 'fell out of love' with her!

---

Ryan, Jacob wouldn't give Renesmee to Bella! He was holding on to her and he wouldn't let her go to her own MOTHER!! He thought he had more of priority than her own MOTHER did, even right after Renesmee was born, and it was the first time Bella ever could hold her daughter!! That really annoyed me.

Anyways...one thing I really loved is the development of Edward and Jacob's relationship. In Eclipse, they were close to enemies. But then in Breaking Dawn, they grew closer and closer together, and now they're actually friends. I like that.

message 83: by Brittany (new)

Brittany Sale ya, when he imprinted on Nessie I was totally like in shock in a good way, and then when he wouldn't hand her to bella i was so mad at him, i wished she would bite him :) maybe somehting interesting would happen :) but of course i got over it...Jacob just needed to learn his place...

Mack-a-doodle & cheese (mack-a-doodle) Remember if Bella bit him then he would die it's poisonous to werewolves. Hmmmm maybe it wouldn't have done anything actually (except make him a vampire) since he's a shape shifter.

message 85: by PandaRanda (last edited Aug 07, 2008 06:06AM) (new)

PandaRanda Hmm ok, stepping aside from all this "I HATE IT!"/"I LOVE IT" drama, does anyone else agree that the second book linked to Breaking Dawn was The Merchant of Venice. I really think it is, but everyone else is caught up with other things that I really haven't read much about the book influences on Breaking Dawn...yet.

You know, like the whole trial thing, the Shylock walking off as a broken man, a villain who isn't quite a villain (but the reverse?), monsters who are really human, and the idea of mercy and Portia/Alice saving the day. That whole thing. Am I right? Ouu, and the Tennyson poetry thing, was that somehow linked to The Charge of the Light Brigade poem? The one where the 600 men light brigade all charge towards their death in the valley, even after they've been forewarned by the spies/scout and know they'll be annihilated? I liked that too...but I was wondering if Renesmee was reading the same poem huh?

Also it's strange that a lot of people don't like Breaking Dawn all that much. I liked it. I mean it was kinda weird and slow at some places, but the ending was so, I don't know, right. It really DID end, there was no cheesy epilogue, to tie up all the loose ends, it was just a good old ending. An ending that finished the story as told by Bella.

Ouu and I LOVED Jacob's book. This book actually made me like Jacob, a big step for me, former Jacob-despiser! XD The alpha thing was so cool! And I really love Seth, he's the best of the best. xD

That and, Bella became way less annoying when she got vamped up! She was actually useful for something, and not just a flimsy little damsel in distress. So yeah, count me in for the "I like Breaking Dawn" side. I thought it was well written, and it did show you how far everyone developed since Twilight. It truly was a book to end it.

"Their's not to make reply,
Their's not to reason why,
Their's but to do and die:
Into the valley of Death
Rode the six hundred...

...When can their glory fade?
O the wild charge they made!
All the world wondered.
Honor the charge they made,
Honor the Light Brigade,
Noble six hundred."

And so it ends. Good bye, Twilight.

message 86: by PandaRanda (last edited Aug 07, 2008 06:23AM) (new)

PandaRanda Ah, the poem was The Lotus Eaters by Tennyson.

I
"There is sweet music here that softer falls
Than petals from blown roses on the grass,
Or night-dews on still waters between walls
Of shadowy granite, in a gleaming pass...

VIII
Let us swear an oath, and keep it with an equal mind,
In the hollow Lotos-land to live and lie reclined
On the hills like Gods together, careless of mankind. For they lie beside their nectar, and the bolts are hurl’d
Far below them in the valleys, and the clouds are lightly curl’d
Round their golden houses, girdled with the gleaming world;
Where they smile in secret, looking over wasted lands,
Blight and famine, plague and earthquake, roaring deeps and fiery sands,
Clanging fights, and flaming towns, and sinking ships, and praying hands.
But they smile, they find a music centred in a doleful song
Steaming up, a lamentation and an ancient tale of wrong,
Like a tale of little meaning tho’ the words are strong;
Chanted from an ill-used race of men that cleave the soil,Sow the seed, and reap the harvest with enduring toil,
Storing yearly little dues of wheat, and wine and oil;
Till they perish and they suffer—some, ’tis whisper’d—down in hell
Suffer endless anguish, others in Elysian valleys dwell,
Resting weary limbs at last on beds of asphodel.Surely, surely, slumber is more sweet than toil, the shore
Than labor in the deep mid-ocean, wind and wave and oar;
O, rest ye, brother mariners, we will not wander more."

O, rest ye..we will not wander more.

Darla | 2 comments I had figured the imprinting thing out on Nessie a chapter before....Dunno how but I did. I was more disappointed that he injected his venom with a needle!! I wanted the whole passionate bite thing...but I guess the circumstances didn't allow...Do you think she left it open like she did to possibly allow for another book?? Gosh !! I hope so!!

message 88: by Darla (new)

Darla | 2 comments Sorry to post twice in a row...but Sex scenes graphic? anyhting but, IMO. If you keep your daughter away from this.I sure hope there is no television in your home.

message 89: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Brenwell | 1 comments i absolutly loved this book. I am a little disappointed with the ending because the way Meyer wrote the end of the book she made it sound like there was more to go on like a continuation to the story. It also leaves you with like a million and one questions like are the volturi ever defeated???? I am hoping that when she writes other books involving these characters that she continues to go on with the story!!! The only part i could not stand was when she moved to Jacobs view of the story. I know it was crutial to know his view because of the information it holds but I like when Bella tells the story. I am surprised by Bella. Its great to know how she was pretty much born to be a vampire. The whole book pretty much catches you off guard witht the baby though. It was kinda easy to see Jacob imprint Nessie. It was really predictable. It was a really good book except when Bella almost died I was shocked!!

message 90: by Krista (new)

Krista Benson (shscaptain1234) | 9 comments I've read it a second time now and I'd have to say that I really get bored during Jacob's part. I don't know why since the material it's self is okay, but it's just boring to me.

I like the book alot especially since I didn't see the baby coming nor Jacob imprinting on Nessie.

But, I thought the Volturi scenes would have been more climatic..they were kinda boring...I mean I was happy Alice saved the day, but I thought there would be a bit more fighting before she did.

Also, I absolutely don't think that the sex scenes were too graphic. In fact, I was a bit disapointed by them. But I soon realized this was for a much younger audience. However, them having so much sex is NORMAL...they are after all MARRIED. Even if you're raising your children strictly, you still believe in sex after marriage right? If anything, you should be happy the series promotes waiting.

Anyways. Loved the beginning and end...but I wish there was one more. I hope they make this into a movie because I'd love to see the wedding scene.

message 91: by Stephanie (new)

Stephanie | 1 comments I LOVED THE BOOK IT WAS AWESOME!!! I LOVED THE FACT THAT THE FAMILY WAS ABLE TO STAY TOGETHER! I WAS SO HURT WHEN I "THOUGHT" ALICE AND JASPER LEFT I THOUGHT MY HEART WAS BREAKING! THEN THEY CAME BACK I HAD THE BIGGEST SMILE EVER! THEN THE WHOLE JACOB IMPRINTING ON NESSIE THAT WAS A CRAZY ONE, I LAUGHED MY BUTT OFF FOR SOME REASON BEFORE I GOT TO THAT POINT I ALREADY KNEW THAT, THAT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN AND THAT BELLA ACTUALLY WENT AT HIM! CRAZY! I HOPE THAT THE WHOLE VOLTURI THREAT WILL MEAN THAT ONE DAY WE MIGHT GET ANOTHER BOOK, BUT HOPEFULLY NOT AT THE EXPENSE OF ONE OF THEM DYING! I'M GLAD THAT JACOB AND THE PACK ARE CLOSER TO THE CULLENS, SINCE NESSIE IS GOING TO BE PART OF THEIR FAMILY! ANOTHER POSSIBLE CHAPTER, WHAT IF NESSIE AND JACOB ONE DAY HAVE A FAMILY OF THEIR OWN! SO MANY THING TO THINK OF! EITHER WAY I LOVED THE BOOK AND WAS SAD THAT IT HAD TO FINISH!

message 92: by Cassidy (new)

Cassidy Savage (savagegy6) On Edward not being happy about the baby...from all his knowledge, baby vampires were not a good thing. It would kill Bella and then destroy endlessly without the ability to learn not to. You can't blame him for not being happy about that. :) He realized the gravity of the situation and Bella didn't have the knowledge to fully understand what she was possibly unleashing on them all. It all came together perfectly, everything fit and had a place for each character to realize this was going to be an amazing baby. Awww i love this book...lol

message 93: by [deleted user] (new)

I loved the book too!

message 94: by Amber (new)

Amber | 4 comments I didn't like the whole Jacob imprinting on Nessie thing. Too picture perfect and frankly kinda weird. I can't wrap my head around this imprinting on babies thing. Hey, I guess they are keeping it all in the family, lol. And, I hate the name Nessie. I cringed every time it was said, just like Bella did. For the most part I agree with everything above. I loved the Wedding and the Honeymoon. The pregnancy I like because it was unexpected and edge of your seat. The first half of the book all felt very "Twilight" and I was hooked. Somewhere after Jacob imprinted on Reneesme, it all kinda got slower for me and not as exciting or unexpected. I felt like Meyer brought up a lot of things that she made you think she would come back and explain them later but she didn't, so that was disappointing. But overall I liked it. More than New Moon but not more than Eclipse.

message 95: by Amber (new)

Amber | 4 comments Oh and about the pregnancy thing, that was explained enough. I think...women can't have babies because having a period means constant change. Men have an endless amount of sperm throughout their life regardless of age, whether vampire or not. I got it anyway.

message 96: by Lynny (new)

Lynny (lynnyo4) i JUST finished. IDK what to think. i kinda was disapointed. but it was definetly goood... idk

message 97: by Lulliannie (new)

Lulliannie (lullisbooks) Overall, the book was ok. I have to say that as soon as I figured out Bella was pregnant (that first 'head rush'), I didn't want to read anymore. I don't know why, but I didn't want her to be pregnant. I kept taking brakes instead of reading through like I usually do. Then when I got to Jacob Book Two, I still didn't like it that much. I thought for a chapter there, that Jacob and Leah were going to get together and I didn't like it. It was obvious when he imprinted on Nessie...and that is when it started to get good, on Bella Book Three. I didn't like the fact that Charlie found out, and I wanted more on Nahuel giving Jacob a run for his money.

message 98: by Cassidy (new)

Cassidy Savage (savagegy6) I thought Jacob and Leah were going to get together for a while there too...ugh...poor Leah...no one likes her lol...After the explaining I feel bad for her and realize why she is the way she is. She's got a lot going on. I didn't mind Jacob imprinting on Nessie, I was happy he finally would get his happy ending. I did like that Bella reacted the way she did, it would have been to perfect if she was happy about it. I liked that it showed the bond was different after Nessie was born.
Nahuel wasn't interested in Nessie though. He was seeing that he wasn't evil and that saw that the mother and father figures could exist. He was in awe of Bella being a live and being a mother. He wasn't a monster and it changed his life after that. I bet if there were to be another book he would find a mate and bring her to the Cullens to help her give birth and stay alive. I was really glad Bella became even closer to Charlie. It hurt to have her blowing him off, in a way, so much before the wedding and after and all that...it was sad.

message 99: by Lulliannie (new)

Lulliannie (lullisbooks) Stephenie hinted that Nahuel would want to be with Nessie when she grows up though. When Bella said that Nessie is the only half-vampire female that is not his sister...you can see what that would make him think about.
