My name is Kristopher and I'm a Book-aholic. I have a ridiculous back-log of books on my TBR pile, and still continue to get more in from Amazon.com and any used book store I happen to stumble across. I'm trying to tone it down a lot, as I will be leaving my job in a couple of months and going to school full time. Won't have as much time to read then! (I say that, but am currently working full time and taking 9 credits, and I still get in time to read every evening.) Anyhow, it's great to see some like-minded people on here.
Kristopher

Yeah, I'm an addict. One look at my over 3000 books in my Goodreads bookshelves will be evidence. I know I won't read all the ones in my To-Read list, but I love such a variety of books, I have to add them when I see them, or I'm afraid I won't ever remember them again.
Before I go to the library, I go to my To-Read list, set the order to Random, and print out about 10 pages. Then I will just go through the list and get what the library has. :)
My family doesn't understand my obsession. I have books with me everywhere I go. I have three at work, and so many at home I don't have enough shelves for them all. Whatever you do, if you drop me at a used book store, don't leave me with a credit card :)
Good to see so many other addicts! :)

Hi Shelli, I bought the Kindle about six months ago and I absolutely love it. I put all my books on it and it is so easy to handle. You can just bring it everywhere with you. When you finish a book you just start another book. It's great. I hope you love it as much as I do.

Thanks Brenda..I'll let you know!

I have a feeling that when I get a Kindle (some day :), I will love the luxury of having a ton of books at my fingertips.
But I will never lose the love of the feel and smell of a paper book...

My name is Jessica, I'm 25, living in Germany and I joined this group because I truly am a book-a-holic. I'm getting a monthly delivery of about 10 to 15 books and my appartment resembles a library. I am ALWAYS carrying a book in my handbag because you never know when there might be a great opportunity to read a few pages. I'm working a lot so it often happens that I spent a whole weekend just reading. I never go to bed without having at least read a few pages (like a few hundreds of pages actually) and I'm secretly dreaming of being locked up in a book store over night like kids are dreaming of spending a night in some toy store. All my friends think that I've got a serious problem so I agree with Marie. I'm happy to have found people who understand me. :-)

I have these books waiting to be read and need to know which to read next:
Christine Dodd's 'Into the Shadows'
Debbie Macomber's '1022 Evergreen Place'
Louisa Edward's 'Just Oe Taste'
Stella Cameron's 'Out of Mind'
Susan Wiggs' 'The Firebrand'
Barry Eisler's 'Rainfall'
Sherryl Woods' 'Dragon Mender'
or Kat Martin's 'Bold Angel'
Suggestions Anyone?

Hi there Heather! :-) I'm living close to Stuttgart. That's about 2 hours by car from where you live. So, what are you doing in Germany? Are you living there permanently?

My best friend lives near Stuttgart! We're both in the Air Force. She's stationed there & I'm stationed here. She's going to be stationed here next summer & I'll be here another 2 years. How about you? How did you come about to move to Germany?

The Air Force? That sounds interesting! I'm always listening to AFN Eagel...
I actually am German :-) I joined goodreads because I'm solely reading English books and preferably ones written by US authors / with a story playing in the US.
Through goodreads I got my hands on a lot of good books in the last few months...the only problem is, that there's nobody to discuss these books with me as my friends aren't reading English books and very often the books I'm reading are not even published in Germany yet...

I've been trying really hard lately to not buy so many books. My bank account keeps rebelling in these hard economic times. So instead I make regular trips to the library and I have lots of free books on my ereader. I really need to stop checking out books and catch up on what I have at home. So far that hasn't happened tho lol.

Welcome Flora!
Oh, I know the feeling. Currently I've got 20 books at home (which I have all bought) and I really have to force myself to read these first before I order new ones. It's just that I always need a widespread assortment of different books at hand.
I just can't bring myself to check out books from the library. Books are my trophies and I have to own them...I truly am an addict...

I guess I'll have to give the library thing a chance sooner or later...

Hi Emily! Do you keep a book journal, or where do you keep the list of books you've read? I write the book titles on the calendar - on the day I've finished them. Then I keep the calendars (I had 5 or 6 years worth but got rid of them after posting what I'd read here)! I love the image of books piled up everywhere in your house! I hope you get a bookcase for Christmas so you don't trip on a lounging book as you're going up or down the stairs! :)

I knew I had to join this group as soon as I saw the opening quote by Desiderius Erasmus, as I myself have always said the same. Food may nurture the body, but books nurture the soul, after all.
I write sometimes, and keep a blog where you can read some of my writing, if you like, http://girlmeetsnyc.blogspot.com.
More of my interests listed on my profile, perhaps, we'll have something in common besides being book-a-holics.

Hi, Bert! Welcome!!

A new second hand bookstore opened about an hour away from me near where my parents live and it happens to be on an exit on the way to my parents house. I have already made a pit stop there and planning on another for the thanksgiving holidays. The last time I was in there I bought 9 books....but only spent about $35. I was in book heaven. Now its been about a month and i'm almost finished will all of them and 2 more. I can't wait to go back. They buy back books too so I'm selling some that I have either read and didnt like or never planning on reading them.
I tend to like sci-fi/fantasy..I've been stuck on vampire supernatural books lately..and reading three series about that. Now i'm trying to branch out a little. (They are getting too predictable as far as the supernatural lore) So that's me.

my addiction started when i was young and before i knew it, it grew to love as i got older. i am especially obsessed with older literature. i hope to someday have a room full of books i own (a big room). the end.<3

It all started reallyw when I was in college and one of the girls that I was seeing was into Manga... Next thing that happened was you rarely saw me without a comic in my fingers... and that just escalated when I got into the service... Now when you open my Rack I have to devote a good 3' X 4' section of my very very limited storage space to Graphic Novels; my christmas gift for myself was an E Reader... Man, that was a Great Gift right there! got a stack of a good 30 or so total books that I got to burn through... about 50 50 graphic novels to traditional horror/mystery/Pulp Fiction novels.
It does not help that I live on a seculuded Island in the middle of the alutian chain in the cold north... nothing like a hot coffee, a comfortable seat, a sweater blanket, and a good story to burrow into!

Hello my name is Shay and I am a bookaholic! My personal library is in what we call the "creepy" room. We think its haunted so my hubby doesn't want his football card collection in there. Besides my dead tree editions I also own a Kindle and a Nook. Why? Good question. I am not a hoarder though. I donate a lot of books each year. If I am not reading I am writing, playing video games, painting or shopping for books. I was recently diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and have been on the hunt for good books on that subject.

My name is Devina and I'm a Book-A-Holic!I havn't got alot of space for them but I make them all fit somehow! My entire Harry Potter collection is in a shoebox under the dresser(protection form destructive siblings). There's a stack on my desk in my room and I've made it a habit to plastic all of my paperback books as I buy them,I highly reccomend this,my Three Musketeers look brand new two years after(I plastic the Harry Potter books too).
I've recently received a kindle and I'm reluctant to read on it for fear I'll stop loving my lovely scented, thick, page filled volumes, but I've realized that it wasn't possible.I enjoy writing short stories and poems in my spare time.

Hi, my name is Yağmur and I'm a bookaholic.
When I start reading i can't stop. every time i went to book store i want to buy every single book in the store.
When I start reading i can't stop. every time i went to book store i want to buy every single book in the store.

I own too many books to read and still buy more. Found a gorgeous 24-hour book store and sometimes forget to go home. My family is usually not impressed during those times. Oh well.
I keep books in my handbag, my work desk, my bedside table and every other flat or stable surface I can find.
I am perfectly thrilled to have found a place where there are other people who understand this need and indeed obsession for books.

My friends have to set time limits in bookstores for me, or I end up the next to last person in line for the checkout at closing time scrambling to pick books within my price limits. I have 200+ books downloaded to my phone, I haven't had my phone for 3 months yet...

Sometimes, I just go to the bookstore to see whats out and to smell the new books. (no, I'm not insane, the new books do have a smell)My husband has learned to wait patiently for at least a half hour while I look around for new books to read. :)
