Lindis Russell (lindyloudawn) | 16 comments One of my favorite parts in Eclipse is the training scene. I think this is where Bella finally realizes how powerful the vampires are.

And of course theres the movie scene! I tingle every time Emmett growls "Again!"
And when he says, "Not in my nature." I melt! : )

I enjoy that you admire him so much.

Lindis Russell (lindyloudawn) | 16 comments Thanks! - Admire, is an understatement!! Love, lust, he's on my supernatural pedistal! : ) Don't you just wish she could have a book dedicated to every charachter, starting when they were maybe about 10 years old. And then ending with Bella in Forks?

Man, she'd have to do a whole series on Carlisle. "The Chronicles of Carlisle"

I'd read them all!!!!!

In A Discovery of Witches Matthew reminds me some of Carlisle but also of Edward. I would also read them all. I long constantly for more Twilight books but hate it when someone tells me a book is like Twilight and it is NOT. Stephenie Meyer characters are so likeable. How did she manage to make them so?

Stephen (havan) | 1 comments Hi All I'm a new member of this group but have wanted to discuss the Twilight saga books for while.

I'm an aspiring writer myself (though a lazy one) and I think that SM is an amazing storyteller but a sometimes annoying writer if you see the difference.

The first scenes in Eclipse are a perfect example of one of the problems I see. The letter from Jacob with all it's false starts and angst and barely concealed pain sets up the book amazingly well and forshadows so much.

It's a terrific piece of writing and storytelling. Yet, it's followed/interupted by the smell of burning dinner downstairs. But what's Bella smell? Apparently the microwaving is just beginning and the spaghetti is clumped. Neither would produce a smell that would bring Bella down.

So, be that as it may... I love the saga overall and the characters and the settings. I just wish that in certain places, SM had had a better editor to keep her honest/ontrack.

To get back to the specifics of Eclipse...

I love the Jacob's kiss/Bella's punch interchange but I've heard others complain that the unwarranted kiss was almost a form of date rape.

Personally I didn't find that at all. I do think that Jacob ventured a rebuff when he kissed Bella here and he got the feedback. If he'd continued his physical advances at the time (which he was certainly capable of) that that would be stepping over the boundary but as it was his Kiss was no more a felonious assault than her reacting by punching him. What do you think?

I really liked this book. Chapter 20 is my favorite part in the whole book.
