Jackie (thelastwolf) Paul, just wait til you see Season 3.
A lot of people told me how great SoA was but it just didn't seem like something I'd like. Bikers, a motorcycle gang, no, not my kind of thing so I didn't bother. But a friend of mine told me she watched an entire season in one day, and I thought, 'That's one hell of a testamonial' and decided to give it a go. I'm so glad I did, it was so much better than I could have ever imagined. Once you start, you can't stop watching it.

Bill (kernos) | 426 comments I don't want to see crime or cops or doctors or drugs or real life crap. I want to see the fantastic, present past or future.

Julia | 957 comments Consider "Being Human" from the BBC or BBC America, depending on where you live...

Julia | 957 comments What about "Mad Men?" It's so long ago, it seems like fantasy, sometimes.

Jeff (jkeene) | 95 comments Julia and Marc,

Thanks for the info on Pushing Daisies, the whole family just watched the first two episodes on Netflix and loved them. Dead Like Me was one of our favorites, this might once again gather all of us together for viewing.

Jackie (thelastwolf) I just rented Carnivale. It looks interesting.
I also saw a TV show I'd forgotten about while at the vid store, Earth 2., which I'll be renting next.

My wife and I enjoyed Carnivale quite a bit. Once we finished it the many long and detailed Wikipedia pages about it helped to clarify some of the more mysterious aspects.

Jackie (thelastwolf) Jeff, thanks, good to know I can find the info if I need it.

What to you think about Carnivale so far?

message 61: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) I've only time to watch 4 episodes but it's interesting enough to keep watching. A bit slow but I'm hoping it picks up the pacing as it goes along. I like the strange powers of the carnies and the aura of mystery surrounding The Management, The Preacher and the so far unseen Hack. I think it could be a great show.

Mach | 103 comments It get's even better in season 2. I remember when i was watching season 2, i was up late at night, because i had to watch the last episodes.

message 63: by Jackie (new)

Jackie (thelastwolf) That's a sign of a good show.

Al "Tank" (alkalar) | 346 comments No substitute for Strazinski's Babylon 5. A 5-season series (almost ended after the 4th season). It was the first major TV SF series that had an overall planned plot from the beginning.

It might be rather expansive to acquire the series. I recorded it as it was originally shown and watch it every couple of years.

Fans bugged Strazinski for more, so he came out with a spinoff called "Crusade", which didn't last because it was, regrettably, inferior to "B5".

Silvio Curtis | 245 comments Lots of great suggestions, everybody. Thanks!

I will definitely be watching out for chances to watch Carnivale. I'm also counting Andromeda, Fringe, Pushing Daisies, Dollhouse, and Being Human as possibilities.

Silvio Curtis | 245 comments Well, summer vacation's finally here to give me a little extra time, and it looks like the local video rental has at least the first season of Carnivale. So here goes for the rest of the week!

Tad (tottman) | 159 comments Farscape is one of my all time favorites. Great arc, great characters, holds up well over time.

message 70: by Silvio (new)

Silvio Curtis | 245 comments I only got to watch the first six episodes, the other DVDs didn't work. It's enough to tell Carnivale's very much what I was looking for. Thanks again for the recommendation, Machavelli! TV series are a bit outside my budget for now, but I'll keep an eye out for chances to watch the rest of it.
