Hello from down under

Hi all,
I joined a few weeks ago but haven't stopped to say hello. I've been an avid book collector/reader for years, come by it honestly as my parents have 2 tons of books. We know this because they had it priced by a mover when they moved across the US.

I relocated to New Zealand from Colorado 9 years ago and moved some, not all, of my books down here. Surprisingly in 9 short years I've accumulated a huge number of books. This was recently verified by my step son who had to pack them all up in September. We were displaced from our home after an earthquake hit our city, Christchurch. Our house was flooded immediately with goundwater & liquefaction. Suffice it to say we had to move out fairly quickly. Luckily none of my books came off the shelves, nor did anything break, except our house. People were a little surprised and overwhelmed at the number of books I did have htat needed to be packed up!

Sadly my books are now all in boxes and may not be out again for another 2 years! It will be that long before we can rebuild our house. But guess what...I'm finding new books! Oh dear.

Anyway, I've enjoyed reading the posts and finding out new books (or old ones) to read. I look forward to being in this group. ~Hope
