I can't find much information on this - does anyone know if these are like SparkNotes/Cliff Notes, or an actual edition of the book?

KnowledgeNotes Student Guides provide in-depth analysis of frequently studied texts, which include an overview, plot summary and analyses of the work's style, themes and motifs, highlights and suggestions for further reading.

It looks like some libraries carry them instead of Sparks/Cliff.

Okay, I'll assume it doesn't contain the text of the work itself, so the author shouldn't be Thomas Pynchon.
