Goals: Gonna Meet Them in 2010? Set Them in 2011?

My 2010 goal was to read 100 books and I'm now on 154. (Still have another 9 to go for some outstanding challenges. Hope I'll get there!) I was quite surprised at myself, didn't know I read quite that much, lol! (I only joined GR this year and didn't really track my reading before plus my TBR list grew into a mountain!)
I'm aiming for another 150 books in 2011 and want to finish all the challenges I'm joining (which means I need to calm down a bit and shouldn't sign up for just about everything anymore!)
I also want to go on with the series I've started. I read so many #1 books this year that I loved, but never went on with the series because I got sidetracked by another series I felt the need to sample.
Oh, and I want to try and write more reviews in the coming year as well. I'm not very confident in my review-writing-abilities, so often I just didn't write one at all. That has to change :)

The series I will be working on are Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Maximum Ride and Narnia. I may have more I am missing. I have some 1st in series and stand alones on my list too. I actually made myself a book chart. I have 32 on it so far. I also have my Dirty Dozen challenge so number wise I will be reading over 66 books next year.

My only goal last year-before I even joined GR-was to read 125 books. So far, I've read 164...which is largely because of GR. This year, I'm going for 150. I've also signed up for various yearly challenges on top of the monthlies I plan on doing. I keep stalking the RRRC & PNR group updates to see what January's monthlies are going to be. Which is stupid, since I know they're not usually announced until after the 20th. It's like constantly looking out of the window to see if your package came on Sunday...knowing the damn mailman doesn't come on Sunday. I'm sick in the head, I tell you!
This year, my big literary goal is to put a huge dent in my TBR shelves. I started out with less than 100 books on my TBR for the first 4 or 5 months I was a member here. Now my TBR shelf has 300+ books on it. I'm spending too much time adding & not enough time reading. So yeah. I'm going to *try* not to read any book that isn't on my TBR shelf or a kindle freebie.

I just put together my books that are committed to 2011 challenges and ... yowza, I'm already up to 118! Seems like I've got my work cut out for me and the year hasn't even started. (Plus, 10 New2Me Authors & 10 New2Me Series) LMAO!
Well 2010 was kinda a bust for me my goal was to read 100 books I will make it to 92 after I finish this months current reads. I know I would have met my goal and then some but since the breakup with my boyfriend I haven't felt much like reading anything the last few months. I'm just now starting to feel like things are getting back on track for me.
Anyway enough boohooing 2011 is going to be a banner year for me I can feel it!!! I've signed up for 14 yearly challenges, 1 no time limit challenge and a couple bimonthly/quarterly, oh and probably a few monthlys here and there too. My goal is to read 125 books of which I have 100 already picked for the challenges I have signed up for and the last 25 are going to be for my own choice. Thank god for cross challenging...lol!
WOW I think I may have bitten off more then I can Chew for 2011, but I sure am going to have fun trying!!!!

That's only 10 books per month - that's easy. LOL.

Thanks and I'll be doing the same for you guys as well, that's what virtual friends are for after all...lol!

I love the idea of a secret group I think I might just do that. I may as well jump on the band wagon with everyone else...lol! Good luck to everyone with their future challenges for 2011

Don't worry I'll keep my member list at SOS too just so everyone can see how things are going!
Thing is, I didn't really set a goal, although I did join the "144 books in 2010" group just to challenge myself. All I (we) can really do is take it one day/book at a time, yah?
Believe me, if you looked at my #s BGR (before Goodreads), 50 in a year is something to write home about.
ETA: One goal I did achieve re: books in 2010 was to write a review for each book I read. Sometimes my reviews were a few words/sentences only. Other times I just couldn't shut up. But, I wrote something and will definitely continue that in 2011. It's helped me (Early Onset Alzheimers), I've met some fun people with comment tastes and found some great new2me reads because of it.
CHALLENGE GOALS: My goal with any challenge is to finish. I've had some tight months throughout 2010 where I just wasn't sure if I'd finish my monthly reads or not. But, so far so good. I've got SIX books left to read by Dec 31st, two of which I'm currently reading. I can definitely do four more books between now and then. (knock-knock-knockin' on wood)
I didn't have a general "challenge goal" for the year, but in 2011, I'm going to try to follow the "read what you got" rule. Although, I can already tell ya that just doesn't work for me. I'll try, but I feel good as long as, while reading #1s for hot, new series, I also read next-in-series books throughout the year. A little balance vs. a full ban. Less restricting, I like it, let's me relax and just have fun reading.
How 'bout You?
