Jc11king | 103 comments Has nobody of you ever read one of his book?

I have The Thief of Always on my bookshelf, but it's still on my to-read list.

Becky (beckyofthe19and9) I have never read Clive Barker, but I own Imajica & The Damnation Game... Suggestions?

message 4: by Elena (new)

Elena | 50 comments I have only read "Books of Blood 1-3". I can't get a link. I loved it. They are short stories. I want to read more from him. He is one of the best horror writers.

Imagica is great as far as dark fantasy and The Damnation Game is good for if you want some good horror to read.

message 7: by Bondama (new)

Bondama (kerensa) | 868 comments I have read quite a bit of Clive Barker because the first things I read of his were "the Books of Blood" which were incredibly imaginative and even funny, at times. I liked "Weaveworld" -- and there are several others I liked a lot as well -- but .... as for memorability, I can't even remember the names of the ones I liked, let alone the ones I DISLIKED!! - I find him a very, very uneven storyteller, although there are lines from his book that have become a part of my personal memorabilia.

Christine (christine007) | 28 comments The only Clive Barker book I've ever finished was Mister B Gone and I can't say that I either loved it or hated it.

Jc11king | 103 comments Yeah, The Books of Blood are on my to-read list also.

I've read Imajica, In the Flesh, and The Thief of Always: A Fable, and the occasional random short story. It has been years and years since I've read any of him. I keep meaning to go back and read other stuff.

I liked all those books rather well, but as Bondama said, he's somewhat uneven. In places, he's awesome. In others, not so much. And you seem to go back and forth on that a lot.

Susanna (jb_slasher) I've read some Books Of Blood and also Cabal. It's been a while, though, but I remember liking his stuff.

Adam Smith (chaos624) | 19 comments I've read The Hellbound Heart, really enjoyed it. Was going to try getting on to Weaveworld at some point.

Gatorman | 561 comments The Damnation Game was a really good book. Started Weaveworld but could not finish it.

message 15: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Hi, Gatorman. Why couldn't you finish Weaveworld?

message 16: by Gatorman (new)

Gatorman | 561 comments I found it rather dull at the time, and didn't want to trog through such a long book that did not grab me early on. Of course, this was a long time ago when I was quicker to give up on long books. Have you read it?

message 17: by Dustin (new)

Dustin Yes, I love Weaveworld!
