I'm sticking with republican democracy, thank you ..."
Norway and Sweden both have a constitional monarchy, so the monarch's role is pretty much just ceremonial. Except that, like, all laws have to be signed by him/her before they can go through, with, like, one exception that I can't remember (I don't know if aforementioned exception applies to Sweden). But as far as I know it's a very similar model to the Parliament of the UK, so *shrugs*

Did you see the John Stewart thing on that? Where he's like "Newt has realised that the Earth is dying and so he is moving on, to a newer, younger planet."
It was the most glorious burn ever.

Technically, America is a democracy which means ANYONE* can run for president... that's why it's a democracy.
*Although, the "anyone" is actually quite limited, but that's the general idea.

Yes! That completely made my day.
Well, the only things I know about him (humor-wise) are from tumblr, so. xD (I did look up one thing I thought somebody made up and he actually said it in a speech.)

Yeah yeah. Better than that though was the video with the awesome American rock song wailing with a giant flag waving while stuff like wrestling and Transformers fade in in front of it. The most American thing I've ever seen.

Umm, that supposedly the cannibalistic crimes around the world are evidence of a zombie apocalypse?

Umm, that supposedly the cannibalistic crimes around the world are evidence o..."
UGH THIS IS SO STUPID.
Stuff like this has been happening for centuries. It wasn't as evident then as it is now considering that we have more technology to spread news around. What about Fritz Haarman, Albert Fish, Andrei Chikatilo, Richard Chase, Alfred Packer, John George Haigh, and so many more serial killers? What about the hundreds of cases where mothers ate their own children? What about all the time where people were forced to eat each other, such as Soviet Russia and the Donner party? What about the numerous cannibalistic tribes that have existed over the centuries?
And how about the fact that THE GUY WAS HIGH ON BATH SALTS IN FLORIDA?
THIS ISN'T ANYTHING NEW. ZOMBIES AREN'T REAL. THERE ARE NO SUCH DISEASE THAT HAS EVOLVED ENOUGH TO AFFECT HUMANS AND YOU CANNOT RESURRECT PEOPLE FROM THE DEAD. ZOMBIES ARE SOME OF THE STUPIDEST THINGS I'VE EVER HEARD OF AND THIS WORLD IS TOO OBSESSED WITH THE END.
End rant.
Emily is out.

Well those are very specific cases spread out over a massive amount of time. The zombie thing has become...a thing because it's like, a half dozen cannibal instances that seem to have absolutely no connection happening in the same weekend.
Also there was that incident at the school where hazmat had to be called in right before the cases all started.
Believe me, for I am Spooky Mulder. I want to believe!

Oh, dear, I didn't want to sound angry.
It was just a much needed rant.
I'm not mad.

Agreed.

Yeah, I feel like it's better to embrace all body types than to say that one is "better" or "realer" than another. Some women are naturally thin and some are naturally curvy, and there shouldn't be hostility towards either one.
Rebekka (ἈΝΆΓΚΗ) wrote: "I somewhat recently heard of something called "fat-positive" as kind of a backlash against glorification of slimness by society/in the media. What does everyone think of this? How about the phras..."
I think "fat-positive" doesn't even sound like a positive phrase. It sounds like a test result, not something that you should say in order to remind people who are heavier that they're still beautiful. And they are still beautiful. I don't know why people think otherwise. But the intent behind is (I think) well-meant. I definitely think that it's disgusting how modeling companies and most media in general wants you to be skinny to the point of physical danger. You can be beautiful no matter your size.
And ugh, "real women have curves" is another well-meant phrase that doesn't accomplish what it should. As Taliah said, some people are naturally skinny. I'm one of them. I can't gain much weight in the right places or get any "curves" for the life of me, as much as I'd love to. I was born with a fast metabolism and too much height for my weight. So am I not a real woman?
But these phrases do come around for a reason. Heavier women, generally speaking, tend to have a harder time being accepted as beautiful. Some people can't lose much weight, no matter what they try. Some can but don't have the motivation or the means. And I think it's kind of weird that we even expect it of them, like it's our business what they weigh and how they look. Why should we be bothering ourselves about how everyone else appears? (And frankly, what some people consider "overweight" isn't even overweight. A program told my brother, a very muscular guy, that he needed to lose a hundred pounds. That would probably make him almost the same weight as me, and when you consider that he's a grown man and an athlete... something's wrong there. Healthy doesn't always equal thin, anyways.)
Brigid basically summed up my feelings, but I've already typed all this out, so too bad. xD
