Ooh, cool. Um, I have not been to Winthrop or Norwell. But, it's cool that you were also once a Massachusetts person. :P

Well, I still kind of live in Lexington... Like, that is where my home and family are. But, I go to school in Amherst. So yeah.

Either she was kidding or she didn't realize it was me. I'd understand considering I changed my profile pic like two days ago... XD
That's what I thought. (That you changed your picture and she didn't recognize you.) I tend to know who people are by the color of their picture. xD

Haha yeah, exactly. I tend to recognize people by their profile pic, and it always confuses me when it changes... But I'm kind of a hypocrite, since I change mine kind of a lot. :P
Mine used to be constantly purple to avoid that (because Emmie is/was like that too) but then I gave up.

Perry is a lunatic. If he gets elected he's going to blow up the Middle East or have ourselves blown up.

Totes.

Rick Perry makes me want to scream. I'm from Texas. So I'm supposed to like him. BUT HE'S A FREAKING IDIOT.

SO DO I.
Well, I don't think a college transcript accurately measures a person's intelligence. I mean... a 2 point something is passing.
I also don't think Rick Perry is that stupid, he wouldn't have gotten this far in life if he were an idiot. No, it's probably all just as show, as politics often are. Everything he says is just a way to get some sort of attention/votes, whatever.

Well, I WAS going to vote for the glorious leader of the human heart, Herman Cain, but he just HAD to drop out. So I have to go for the next best thing.
The grade thing definitely doesn't matter (in my opinion). It could just be for lack of trying hard. I know tons of extremely smart kids who don't apply themselves. *shrugs*
I don't know much about him other from what he said about homosexuals and what he said about sending the troops back to Iraq and those were both incredibly stupid things to say. But I dunno much about him as a person or even what he stands for... so.

Have you read any of the articles? I've been researching it like crazy, which is what I do and basically (this is a really short version of it, in Lav's own words...someone correct me if I'm wrong) the government is trying to get a bill passed that will supposedly help stop copyright infringement such as illegal music downloading and illegal video watching. The problem with this bill is that some of the details say that any website that has "copyright infringing" material on it, can be taken down without warning or trial or anything. So if you have lyrics posted to your blog or a picture you found online being used as a cover for a book, this bill could potentially shut down your website. Wikipedia is in danger because if they link to an infringing website, they could get shut down in an instant.
In my opinion, it's taking away our rights for freedom of speech and it's allowing the government to micromanage things. I don't agree with it at all. I got into a giant argument with my Biology teacher about it today. He frustrates me. :P

Personally, I think the economy would suffer more without piracy. A lot of people find about their favorite authors/artists/bands/etc. through piracy, and are then willing to pay for their material in the future. I was discussing this with my mom this morning, and as she pointed out, people are only going to spend a certain amount of money for things they want. I think people are more likely to illegally download things that are good, but not good enough that they'd be willing to spend money on it––or they don't know if it's going to be good enough, etc. So really, the economy isn't necessarily losing that much.
I love this video where Neil Gaiman talks about the subject. It's just spot-on: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Qkyt1...

Radical organisation for the win. I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thinks that.
My friend Kristi's father believes television and movies should be free on the Internet. He's one of my favorite parents.

I'm sticking with republican democracy, thank you very much.
Actually, I like the idea of a republic monarchy.

Just curious, because I totally oppose the idea- why would you want a monarchy?
ETA, three hours later: Republic monarchy? That's completely contradictory...

Oh...."
My problem is not so much with democracy as with capitalism, because I feel that that's what a lot of the problems in society are products of, and they'll remain in place as long as there is a class system. I'm quite conflicted over the issue of there still being a democracy in place because voting system=government=state, which I don't think should be in place in an anarchist society. However, part of me is still like, maybe doing away with a democracy is political oppression, in a way? And I disagree with that, and then I'm like, maybe a socialist government wouldn't be such a bad idea if we still had a structural Parliament, and then, but is there some way that we could successfully transition to a radical/counter-materialistic/anticapitalist/whatever society?
Blaaargh, I don't really know. I suppose at the moment I don't really identify with, like, a specific political ideology, and I'm more concerned about changing the way things are than the exact ways by which they are done.

Sorry. Whenever someone mentions something like that I'm just like SERIOUS BUSINESS YOU GUYS and then I ramble ceaselessly for a long time but tend not to make sense to anyone, including myself.
I figure, as long as I can live my life the way I want and do the things I love, I'm fine with how things are going. Obviously that's the selfish privileged American teenager viewpoint on it, but... that's what I am, so.

It's weird to explain.
Norway or Sweden have something like a republic monarchy.
