tesni (akhmatova) | 5031 comments It's like that thing I heard once about home-educators. Everyone appears to have an idea that they're entirely socially awkward and sheltered, and people only get that impression because the rest of the homeschooled population just totally blends in. Only with Christianity it's like, you only hear about the Christians who are really kicking up a fuss about gay rights and such.

And, therefore, you get the impression all Christians are so intolerant and judgemental and all that.

That's very true. I know lots of people who are Christian and very tolerant. Unfortunately horrible people like, say, the Westboro Baptist Church get all the fame just because they're so outspoken and controversial. And as far as I know, most Christians don't even recognize them as an actual church ...

Yeah, the Westboro Baptist Church is horrible. The guy who's leading them is just terrible.

Although, funny story about them. My friend Rachel who's 12 and her older brother Trent who is 16 and I were talking about them and she was like, "I don't get it! God doesn't hate flags!" We had to explain it to her.

Shyeah dude. There's also a homeless guy who has an anti-abortion sign (basically a nasty piece of cardboard with a dead baby picture on it) who stands outside our school erryday.

I think people get the wrong idea about Christians when they watch a documentary like Bible Camp. Which, holy frakking stuff, that movie is CREEPY.

I just think... the voices of any religion or political party are VERY loud. I mean, that's why we hear them. And we hear that and we're like "hey, that must be what the whole religion is like," and then people forget about the other millions of people who don't think the same way as the radical loud people.

I'm not sure if that makes sense, and if it does I hope it's not painfully redundant. I just like... talking. XD

I TOTALLY MEANT JESUS CAMP. Sorry.

Uhhh. Creepy, creepy Evangelists that are totally intolerant to all other things. They like... super brainwash the children too.

There's this one scene where they are at the capital or whatever and they put the tape over the kid's mouth and then they like sway and stuff. They're protesting abortion or whatever.... but doing it in a weird and confusing way.

Lettme see if I can possibly find a clip.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LACyLT...

Like, I don't have a problem with like... Kid's going to Bible Camp or being told to believe in God because it's their parent's beliefs. It's just... I think this too far.

Yes, I was there.
It was really really disturbing.
Basically it's this creepy lady doing weird things with children and saying she's building Jesus's army and stuff, and then they're all going to go take over the planet or something. O_o
I think the intention was for it to be inspirational ... but it just disturbed everyone. So they shut the camp down, I believe.

message 978: by Picture (new)

Picture Perfect (picturesperfect) | 312 comments I think we should get out of this religious debate and save ourselves before it is too late. Okay, I randomly added the "save ourselves" part, but seriously, let us debate not too much about religion. Touchy, touchy. *poke* Yeah...okay.

Anyway, let us debate about (I shall write this in All CAPS to make it easy to see):

GENETIC ENGINEERING LIKE ON ANIMALS AND SUCH!!!

PS: Later I will give my view on it, but I want to see other people's opinions first off. So....*makes a conducting gesture with hand* Begin...your time starts....never. Okay. Never mind with the time thing. Loopy me.

So

Genetic Engineering.

NO PROBLEM. It's true, yo.
Last year I was on a photography course at summer school and my friend's friends, who al go to school, were totally pestering me with things like, "Have you ever kissed anyone?" "How many friends to you have?"
Most amusingly, one of them was like, "How do you talk to people?" And I said, "Uh, I open my mouth and my vocal chords produce sounds and stuff." And she was like, "No, I mean, how do you talk to normal people."
O___o

BUT WHO NEEDS NORMAL PEOPLE ANYWAY. THEY'RE BORING.

I also like Go For Broke, which is from the 1970s or something and effectively the same, but you have to try and lose all your money instead.
