Amy (runawaymarbles) | 1017 comments We should try to be bipartisan, but the fact is, those in Congress aren't. The republicans want the dems to fail and so our country is sunk.

Interestingly enough, it was just this sort of behavior that led to the French Revolution..

This is kinda off topic but...

War is stupid. Humans are stupid because they think war is necisary, when it isn't. You know, we have words that you can use to talk, and if they speak a different language than you find a translator. Wars are caused by greed, selfishness, stupidity, and thick-headedness.

War begins when communication ends. I don't remember where I heard that, but it's very true.

Very true indeed. Of course, it's an idealistic thing to believe in a world without war... I imagine it's half a good thing, if you think about it. War comes from disagreements, or at least usually (that or selfish desires for money/wealth/land), and disagreements are to be expected in the human race because we all have our ideals and whatnot.

Ugh. I'm making no sense.

Kim Crowley (kimcrow) | 1893 comments Gay rights

They are people just like you and me. They have exactly the same thoughts and feelings as everyone else. They only thing different about them: they love someone of the same gender. Why is this so wrong?

The answer: It isn't.

I admire everyone that is openly gay with everyone because they are willing to stand up and be proud of who they are.

Despite what some morons think, people don't choose to be gay, they just are. For those who DO think that, think about this - when did you choose to be straight? You didn't.

So basically, stop hating on people that are homosexual. They are just people, loving other people. There is nothing wrong, 'sinful' or disgusting about it. They deserve all the rights that we do, including marriage and being allowed to join the army whilst also being open about their sexuality. Love is love, no matter the circumstances.

I might be paraphrasing this quote a tad, but here's what John Green once said, "there is no them, there is only us." And that's right, although he was talking about impoverished countries, the idea is still there, homosexuals are us.

They aren't allowed to join the army? ... I don't see how anything about being homosexual has to do with not being able to fight for our country. That's lame.

They are allowed to join, but they're not allowed to be open about their sexuality. If they do come out the closet in the army, then I think they get dismissed.

Agreed. It's too much trash talking of the other candidates rather than actually trying to fix stuff. Like when they had governor re-elections way down here in this unknown state, there were SO many commercials where it was like "Candidate X is trash because he eats puppies. I'm Candidate Q and I approve this message."

I don't agree with a lot of things Obama does, but I don't hate him as a person like a lot of people do. I also find it a tad bit ridiculous that he got elected, because he had VERY little experience in politics before he became the president.

Hehe. Metro. Ahhh, poor J.

"J, you're so metro!"

Exactly. I have no problem with an African-American president. I think it's actually AMAZING but I'm pretty sure the main reason he got elected was because he's black. Which is still racist.

Kim Crowley (kimcrow) | 1893 comments You know what, seen as y'all talking American politics and confusing me, I'm gunnu start chatting about British Politics.

DAVID CAMERON MAKES ME SO MADDDD. He's cutting the amount of money that gets put into education, and also cutting a load of other things, causing tons of people to lose their jobs. I saw a huge fricken protest in Norwich on the 4th December because of it. It's amazing how people all band together against something they hate. Also, he's focusing on a load of crap rather than the things that matter.

Heck, I wish the Labour party was back with crappy Gordon Brown. Sure, they put us into a huge bloody recession, but at least I didn't get as mad about them as I am about David Cameron with Conservative.

Heck, why couldn't the Liberal Democrats have won?

My favorite subject at the moment: Wikileaks. It's like a Willam Gibson movie straight up went real-life. Personally I'm a big supporter of it as well, have been for a year or two. It isn't leaking anything particularly dangerous, only low level security items. But still, the information is amazing and I do hate that it was all hidden from the public.

Natasha (ar y ffin) (Natasha_ar_y_ffin) This is my opinion:

Abortion- I don't agree with it at all. No one should ever have one, no matter what the circumstances were.

Obama: I'm a Republican, or will be in 2 years. I don't agree with what he's doing. I don't totally hate him, I just dislike him. And it's not because he is black.

Gay Rights: I'm neutral-ish on that. What I mean is, I haven't really made up my opinion on this issue, although I don't believe that people should be gay. I'm not going to go around saying that I won't be friends with someone who is gay, though. If that makes any sense to you.

message 82: by Jayda (last edited Dec 15, 2010 01:45PM) (new)

Jayda | 2761 comments Your opinion on abortion kind of upsets me. Not because I agree with abortions, but because you said it doesn't matter what the circumstances are. That's completely unfair to a woman who is pregnant because she was raped or molested and didn't have a say in the sexual act. I disagree with abortion a lot of the time, but it's unfair to tell someone that they can't abort a fetus specifically when they didn't have a say in whether or not they could've become pregnant anyway.

Now, if someone had sex willingly, hey, it's your own fault. But when someone is raped or molested it isn't their own fault because they didn't have a choice, you know?

I'm the same about Obama. I seriously dislike him, and it's NOT because he's black.

message 83: by Elliott (new)

Elliott | 22634 comments Mod
Ugh. Abortion. I don't even know about that one. I personally believe it's wrong to do it, no matter what the circumstances are. Because it's still a life. It's still a child. BUT. I'm pretty sure I don't think it should be illegal to get an abortion. It is the woman's choice.

message 84: by Jayda (new)

Jayda | 2761 comments I know. I agree that it's a child. And you know how religious I am, Lav. But when the woman had no choice in the matter it should definitely be her choice. I mean, trying to imagine myself in that position, becoming pregnant when I was raped... I don't know if I could keep the baby for nine months. I'd try. But dealing with the emotional scars and horrors that come after being raped, to begin with is hard enough. I love children, and I'd never want to have an abortion, but emotionally I'm not sure even I could handle it, you know?

But yeah, it shouldn't be illegal. Partial-birth abortion definitely SHOULD be illegal, though. That crap is disgusting. It's murder.

But, regardless, if we were to make abortion completely illegal it wouldn't stop abortions. It'd just send women to worse places to get it done in worse ways, you know?

What cracks me up with Obama is that almost everybody (just look in this topic) who aren't satisfied with him HAVE to add that it isn't because he's black. And everybody who does has perfect reason to, because at least one person always seems to shout "IT'S BECAUSE HE'S BLACK AIN'T IT!?"

And when I say it cracks me up, I mean it cracks me up in a "Oh humanity, you disappoint me" kind of way.

Because everything gets turned into something about race and it's so stupid and annoying and the "IT'S BECAUSE HE'S BLACK AIN'T IT!?" people are the ones that actually turn it into a race thing rather than the other person who just cares about them doing their freaking job.
