Currently reading and enjoying. Interesting to see where he thinks America will be in the future as other nations are going past us and we're leaving ourselves behind.

I have traveled to many counties over the last 6 years (see blog- http://travelpod.com/members/goodrich...) and have seen first hand what Mr. Zakaria is addressing. From South America to Southeast Asia these countries see them self’s in a different position in the world of today. I just came back from a 5 month trip to India and the growth and changes daily are something that American’s do not understand or can not even imagine the magnitude. This book provides insight into what has changed and what steps America can and should take in order to lead in the future.
Linda, I fully agree with your comment, in particular because Fareed Zakaria doesn't suggest anything particularly radical that would not be palatable to most people. He is very well informed, quite thoughtful, but his views are still rather mainstream. As he states in the beginning, the book is not about the decline of America but the rise of others.
Mark: Yes, I liked it too. Very clear analysis. Another one, with a slightly different angle and perhaps messier, but definitely worth reading is Parag Khanna's 'The Second World.'I took a look at your blog and will read more of it. Mine is at: http://juhauitto.blogspot.com. It's about travel, too (plus some music, books, etc.).
