What do you/would you do on a day when you were snowed in?
I love snow days. Staying in my pj's all day, watching movies, playing on the computer, baking chocolate chip cookies, watching the snow fall. Then in the evening, I get restless and put on the snow boots and all the gear and walk around the neighborhood or the park. It is so silent and beautiful.
Snow days are great. They give you a perfectly valid excuse to kick back and relax. If the snow knocks out power lines or something like that, of course, it could kind of suck.
Fire in the fireplace would be essential, movies on Netflix would be nice, and probably some sort of cookie making fest would occur.
I'm hoping I'm going to be snowed in tomorrow. The overall answer is that I do whatever I want, but tomorrow I'll probably work on one of my many organizational products at home.

I'm expected to get to work when no one else does simply because I live four blocks from where I work. It's not fair, I tell you. Not fair.
janine wrote: "i'll be building an enormous snowman."once, when my daughter was little, we built an entire snow family. When snow fell one Halloween, we made a huge snow spider and the neighborhood kids helped. Another time, when we had snow at Easter, we made actual snow bunnies. I have an inner sculptor waiting to be released. :)
janine wrote: "i'll be building an enormous snowman."Een enorme sneeuwman.
You'll be building him out of Dutch snow, of course.
ms.petra wrote: "When snow fell one Halloween, we made a huge snow spider and the neighborho..."The snow spider sounds cool, Petra. Were you able to make legs for it that arched off of the ground?
to be honest, I don't remember. I think we just shaped them from the ground up. I do remember it took up about a 12' square section of our front yard and fun was had by all. I probably have a photo somewhere in a box... this was before digital cameras and computers were the norm.
Sally wrote: "And according to the Girl books they eat a lot of cheese sandwiches over there."we love cheese, but they're more likely to be open sandwiches than your kind of sandwiches.
i made a family of snow gnomes last year and my brother made the squirrel from ice age, including acorn.
ms.petra wrote: "I probably have a photo somewhere in a box... this was before digital cameras and computers were the norm. ..."I know what you mean Petra. I have tons of old photos that seem almost like they don't exist anymore because I can't keep track of them digitally. I should probably scan them at some point when I'm feeling more organized.
Since we don't often get snowed in it's a real treat! Of course Seattle treats even 1/2 inch as snowed in. heh. But I love when we get enough that very few cars are out on the road (which isn't much) and everyone is skiing and sledding down the hills in my neighborhood, and me and dawg can wander around with no leash. And then back home into PJs and the couch.
If tomorrow is a snow day, I will do laundry, knit, watch tv on the computer, take a bath, take a nap, and play with the puppydog.
Technically, she's a grown up dog, because she's two and a half years old. In terms of energy and spirit, she's still a puppy. But I won't get to play with her tomorrow because Mom called and told me we're not having a snow day. :(

Me too, especially on those days when I have zero use for humanity.
Put me in front of the TV and I'm good.

We were snowed in for a good portion of yesterday, we baked cookies and chex mix, and some cleaning. But it was a good day to read and watch TV(Firefly series on Netflix).
I had so much fun snowed in last year. I never get bored. I had my sister around for both storms, and Zu for one. We made feasts and played Scrabble and I forced the first five seasons of Lost on my sister. We did have to do a lot of shoveling, but we also got to play hide and go seek and have some good snowball fights.
Great minds think a like Bun.Ok, before someone else says it, A great mind(yours) and an adequate mind(mine) thought a like for awhile anyways.
:-)

I remember how frustrating it was to watch it on TV, with the strange jumps in logic (Fox aired them in the wrong order) and the constant cancellations for baseball.
I'd watch Lonesome Dove if I got snowed in right now. Because I just finished the book and now I want to see the miniseries again. I love watching the snow fall outside and staying in pajamas all day watching TV and baking or cooking. Snow days make me want to eat crap. Cheesy Poofs and brownies and the like. We always try to incorporate the snow. Last year our friends made us margaritas with snow. When I was younger I loved to put snow in the bong and watch movies all day.
I also love tromping around in the fresh snow.
I HATE being snowed in for more than a day, though. The kids and I get cabin fever real bad. We have 4wd so we usually try to get out and visit someone who lives close by.

Baking warms the house.

Smetch, you know that Lonesome Dove is available for instant streaming on Netflix, right?
7.29 I looooooved your snow day pictures with your sister last year. She looks like a fun person to be snowed in with. Not that you don't, you just weren't in the pictures. Er. *backs away*

Hee. She is fun, but I mostly had the camera, so more pictures of her than me. I think we took some with her camera, but she can never find the cord to put her pictures on computer.
I shovel. come back in, get warm. do some housework and then...go out and finish shoveling. I love snow so long as it does not stay on the ground or if I have someone shovel for me. Then the snowplows come by and I have to go out and shovel again.
I'm hoping to use my snowshoes again this year. I love being snowed in. I help a little with shoveling, play with the dogs - that new, cuckoo Cody should be a riot. Then bundled up with movies, ahh.

I was just snowed in last weekend here in Minneapolis and I hate it because I don't like not being able to leave. But when it happens I listen to the radio, read and eat.

It was pretty much impossible to watch when it first ran, but on DVD it's perfect and a great series.

I would like to experience being snowed in, it sounds like fun. However, after reading the weather reports people have been posting, I don't think I could cope with the low temperatures involved in being snowed in. Anything less than 32°F,(O°C)is too cold. :P
On my snow days a couple of weeks ago, I walked downtown on one of the days and had coffee and pastry, and I walked to the bakery in the neighborhood on the other day, and had soup. I guess I like to get outside on snow days, because we get so little snow here, it's fun to get out in it. And it's never THAT much snow. Like Lori says, about half an inch is all it takes in the Pacific northwest for us to panic. :)
Gail "cyborg" wrote: "I would like to experience being snowed in, it sounds like fun. However, after reading the weather reports people have been posting, I don't think I could cope with the low temperatures involved in..."-9 (-23C) here this morning Gail, you probably wouldn't enjoy that much.
How do you function in those kind of temperatures?

(I have to make this somewhat hypothetical because I don't think Gail has ever seen snow.)
I like being snowed in, by the way...there's something cool (no, uh, pun intended) and insular about it. And I could conceivably stay inside the next thirty-six hours.
