Books That Started Off Slow To You, But When It Picked Up - It Stayed On The Freeway

Arch, I've found that a lot of books are like that for me lately. And they turn out to be really good books.
this book sorta was a bit slow for me compared to her other contemps. I found the interactions between the h/h a little awkward at first, but once it did start up, it was a great ride!
Most of Marian Keyes' books are like that, slow to start but once the setup is there, it just rolls.
For me Covet was a slow starter for me . I kept reading & then would stop . It took me a long long while to get myself to continue .
Outlander was that way for me. It didn't pick up until about 100 pages in.....then I flew through it. I didn't get any sleep that night!
Outlander was the same for me, but once she went back through the stones I ended up reading until I had the first 3 books done in 4½ days. Won't ever do that again. Major overload. lol I still can't bring myself to finish Drums of Autumn.
Dark Lover was def a book that was like that for me. I tried to read it 3 times before I finally got into it. Also A Hunger Like No Other, I tried reading it and had to push myself to keep reading, because everyone kept saying how good it was, and I was so glad I did. Both of those series are now my two fav PNR series ever!;)Another one was The Host, it really dragged at the begining, but once the action started I couldn't put it down!
You know, I always thought it was just me. I read so much sometimes I'm kinda bored with it ... then I'll read something really great and realize its just a difference in authors'.
The most recent one was
. Had to get to the fourth chapter before it picked up. And was it worth it!I also agree with Shellebelle that
was like that. You need to get past the first 40 pages, then things pick up.Although I haven't read it, I have heard from people that
is very much like that.
My favorite series of all time is the Fever Series by Karen Marie Moning but I must say that I had to push myself in the middle of the first book
Once I got over the hump...towards the end of book 1...I got hooked bad.....and it was smooth sailing from that point forward and I ended up sucking the rest of the series up like candy.
Definitely The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. You have to read at least 100 pages before it starts to get interesting but after that I couldn't put it down and finished that one and the next two in about a week.Another book somewhat like that was Mistress of the Art of Death
. A bit slow to start but what an excellent series. Anxiously awaiting the next book.

A friend at work got me started on this series and I couldn't be more pleased. I love everything about these books. Can't wait until her next book comes out. I may have to do a re-read of the previous books to remind me where we left off since I read them all last year.

Sadly Ariana Franklin passed away earlier this year so unless they get a ghostwriter, I don't believe there will be anymore.

I had no idea. That is awful news. My friend at work will be sorry to hear that as well. I usually follow my favorite authors more closely but I wasn't anticipating a new novel until the end of this year so I hadn't followed up recently. Thanks for letting me know.

No problem.
I read the first two books and then went to look Ariana Franklin up on the wikipedia and there it was. I was stunned.

I agree Katya, Darkfever was hard to get into. For me it picked up towards the end. Succubus Blues by Richelle Mead was a slow start as well but it was great after book one. Dark Night by Gena Showalter was a slow start to the series IMO. But after book one, the series went like a bullet.

Me personally, I like books that are fast paced from beginning to end. But, I do know that some books are slow starters, but once the car gets the right kind of gas, the book takes off traveling.
