Today I just got a brainwave idea for a new story. It's basically a parody of Walt Disney's fairy tales. I'm not sure if it's good or not, so I want you people's opinions!! All I have so far is the Preface, so I'm posting it below. Please read it and tell me if it sounds like it would make a good story!! (BTW The story is called "Happily Ever After")

---

Happily Ever After: Preface

Those who have watched the memorable Disney fairy tale movies seem to think that every female protagonist gets the happy ending of her dreams. Cinderella marries her Prince Charming and goes to live with him at his castle. Snow White also gets her Prince Charming and goes to live with him at his castle (hm...original much?). Aurora gets to marry her Prince Phillip (at least he has a different name). Alice wakes up and realizes Wonderland was all just a bad dream. Tinkerbell helps Peter fight off the pirates and doesn't have to deal with Wendy anymore. Ariel gets to stay a human and marries her Prince Erik and goes to live with him at his castle (thank god he also has a different name. Charming is starting to get old). Belle turns the Beast into a handsome prince and eventually ends up marrying him. Jasmine defeats the evil Jafar and gets to marry Aladdin. Mulan saves everyone and starts to hit off with Shang. Thumbalina runs off with her fairy prince and becomes a fairy herself. The list continues...

So you assume that they all had the happiest endings that could be. The end.

Don't make assumptions.

What if you're not right? What if they don't?

What if none of them have their supposed “happily ever afters” in the end?

What if everything goes horribly wrong?

Beware. Behind the scenes, not everything is what it appears to be.

---

That's it! Please tell me if it would sound like a good story...

wow, sounds awesome! XD i'm definitely intrigued...

GW Pickle (gwpickle) | 17 comments That might work in today's market. The HEA endings were designed (IMHO) to give people hope for a better life, to inspire them to change their lives & situation for the better, to change or correct the problems in their lives.

Laina (laineyru) i think that it could be good. I love reading stuff like that! As long as it isn't too depressing and some happiness does come out of it.

PS: Thumbelina wasn't done by Disney...

Xerxes Break(Vivian Ephona) (ephona) I like it! Just read a great book called Just Ella which has the same concept! I really liked it!

Oh oh, Thumbelina wasn't done by Disney? Whoops. Can I still include her or should I drop her?

message 7: by Sella, ov vey! i haven't checked this group in months. >< (new)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
Okay, I dropped Thumbelina...but I have a question...does anyone remember what happened to Hook and he Pirates at the end of the Peter Pan film? Are they still alive or not? I don't remember...

message 8: by Laina (new)

Laina (laineyru) yup.... they're still alive and well. If I remember right Hook is being chased by the alligator... and the pirates it doesn't really wrap up.

Oh, so they're still alive and kicking? Kay. Oooh the possibilites....XD

message 10: by Laina (new)

Laina (laineyru) haha. Sounds like so much fun! I had this idea for a story (still sitting in the story folder of my mind) about the "fantasy" world. It revieled how all the princesses were pretty much obsessive and brats. They had these faults like Cinderella as horribly competitive. Speling Beauty was always tired. Belle was never happy and looking for ways to improve everyone ect, ect... Anyhoo, the story was about this servant girl who served a princess who was pretty much a hermit and hated people. When a prince comes to visit, he's determined not to like the hermit princess.

The catch is, every prince is told who they have to marry. It's the rule of the land. NOne of hte princes actually even like their princesses--except for a rare few. The main prince in my story was determined to change that.

So together he and Senna-- the servant girl-- try to change the magical law, by claiming to love each other. All ends happily, but they realize they only like each other as friends and each go on their own happy ways. SOrry to take over your post! I was just thinkin gof that and how I really should try writing that sometime soon...

Hm, that's funny...it's a bit like mine...none of the fairy tale couples are happy with each other. And all the females have faults...Cinderella is snobby, spoiled, and lazy, Belle is extremely stupid, Mulan is a coward, Jasmine is shallow and obsessed with her looks, Ariel is full of herself and conceited, Sleeping Beauty has depression, Snow White is emo, etc...

message 14: by Laina (new)

Laina (laineyru) haha! I think we have too much fun making fun of princesses. :) Honestly, I love them all. They just have to have faults, no? After all, they did bring this upon themselves. Whenever someone works hard to come across as being perfect, they have every right to have it dished out twice as hard at them. :)

Sella Malin | 4530 comments Mod
Yeah...there are reasons why the princesses have gone bad...like, Cinderella has never had any wealth or anything so when she has everything she starts to misuse it and stuff...etc...

Thanks luverly!

Yeah Saved By Grace I saw shrek three...that's a bit where I got the idea...but mine's a bit different; instead of branching off of what they already have, I made them have the opposite of their personalities.

Tate | 106 comments Oh, oh! That sounds brilliant! Write it, write it, and then I shall have to read it, I must, I must!! ^.^

Haha, yay, I haven't posted around here in forever . . . (smacks self on head.)

Well, it might not be awhile until I actually write the first chapter...I'm currently furiously working on one of my other stories...

message 19: by Heather (new)

Heather | 4 comments I've thought of a story like that too! I just never wrote it. In mine Cinderella was stuck up and not the brightest bulb in the box, Belle was a smart-alic (or however you spell that), Ariel defied all the rules and encouraged her kids to do the same, Jasmine became obsessed with her hair, Sleeping Beauty was depressed, and Snow White becomes emo. :) Never got around to writing it though...

Yet totally believable. I mean, her stepmother was trying to kill her and all...

Omg, Heather, that is so weird, because Snow White is emo and Sleeping Beauty is depressed in my story, too! And Jasmine is also obsessed with her looks! Wow I guess great minds think alike!

Hahaha, I'm thinking of the relationship issues that the disney characters had in the play Happily Never After...or I think that's what it's called... Heather, am I right on the title? You were in the play after all...

message 29: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) I have something a little like that, only with Snow White being a 'Mean Girl', Sleeping Beauty addicted to sleeping pills, Rapunzel falling in love with a rebel who does drugs, so her grandma tries to protect her, Cinderella being a neat freak, and starring a wiccan (witch) who's trying to get through high school.

lol, riley, that sounds funny. XD

veronica...sorry but I have no idea what play you're talking about. XD

message 32: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) Thank you. At first I tried it as a children's book but I wasn't feeling it, so now it's about PG13.

i think that's why it's not a children's book anymore... lol. ;D

true. XD

message 37: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) yeah...well, I do have it on Goodreads, but it's the child appropriate version. I didn't want angry parents calling me, asking me why their children are talking about 'swallowin' some heaven' after reading my story.
XD

message 38: by Kenzie (new)

Kenzie | 2838 comments Can you post a link to it? I'd love to read it.

message 39: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) OK, but it's kind of suckish. I wrote it a while ago, and it's the original version, so it doesn't really have very much action.

The Misfits of Fairytales

message 40: by Riley (new)

Riley (booksarecool) darn! the link didn't work!
OK so the title is The Misfits of Fairytales, I think it's at the very bottom.
