Mello caught the slight movement of Beyond's hand. Was he packing a gun? "From us?"

Beyond pulled his hand out of his pocket, exposing the knife in his hand. "I can always wait...or come along.." he said, his dark voice back

Mello gulped. There was no way around it anymore, he had to either tell Beyond the truth or keep on with this story, or someone was going to end up dead. He knew what Beyond was capable of. He kept his gun up high, still trained on Beyond, knowing he had to make a quick decision. He didn't want to risk Matt's life, or his own, and Beyond would find out the truth eventually. So he had no choice.

"Alright, take it easy. This is the truth: 'Kira' has been killing criminals using a mysterious notebook...."

Beyond smirked. "So the truth finally comes out," he laughed darkly. "I knew you were smart, you made the right choice."

Mello glared. "Yeah, yeah. So I suppose we have no choice but to let you join us in our own investigation."

Beyond put his knife away, smirking. "I'll let you in on a little secret," he murmured. "One I bet even you didn't know Meheal." He smiled. "I can tell you who 'Kira' is, for I wouldn't be able to see his lifespan like I see yours."

"I'm not sure," Mello slid his gun back into his waistband. "I was just pondering the question until I was so rudely interrupted."

Mello rolled his eyes. "You should also know that Kira has the ability to control the criminal's actions before their deaths. Several criminals suicide notes are believed to have been written under Kira's control."
