haha. Same.

Jenny To be honest i prefer the second ending. I didn't like the one that was published it left to many lose ends and Katniss being with Peeta felt forced like she stayed with him because there really was no other choice.

............Nah. The ending may have been a little rushed, but Suzanne Collin's writing tops this anyday, all day.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) I don't think that Katniss chose Peeta because she thought she didn't have to. Read the last two paragraphs!! She needed him to survive...

Elizabeth Gale should have died rather than how he actually turned out, preferably saving Prim after realizing how far wrong someone else has carried his bomb idea, thereby redeeming himself. Peeta should have eventually become president. Katniss should have come out of her downspin and done something besides run away and break down.

Lea (Peeta's #1 Fangirl!) Peeta become president?? I don't know..I sorta see what you mean..but no I can't see him in that position...I guess Katniss loses all hope of getting him back in your ending?

[Coco] Matt wrote: "Gale and Peeta team up and sacrifice themselves somehow (perhaps by exploding their special weaponry) in order to create a diversion for Katniss to take the shot."

Are you kidding?! Peeta has no "special weaponry" because he wasn't trusted. So how would HE kill HIMSELF??!!
_____________________________________________________________________And Katniss didn't mope around feeling sorry for herself. She tried to be strong and have life go on... even if it was hard for her to do. And even if she did, anyone would do that. Losing your sister, friends, fellow tributes, and seeing all the killing could scar you for life.

Tami I liked the ending to the book. Although it seemed kind of rushed. I think maybe the book should have been a smidge longer. I didn't see too many things left undone as a lot of you are saying. I mean, how could there be? There was nothing left. Her mother went on to help others instead of going home, and who can blame her. Gale left for a job even though he loved Katniss, he knew that though she loved him too she loved Peeta and needed Peeta more than him. And well, everyone else died. I almost wish there was MORE left undone.

Lindsay Nichols Katniss is bittersweet by the end because all the things she believed in and loved are now lost to her.

And why would anyone want to look back on memories like hers with any kind of happiness? Any memory that had good inside it was tainted with something bad. Or had been tainted by someone else.

And how do you spend the last years of your life when you've spent most of if simply trying to stay alive? Living your whole life looking over your shoulder?

I thought the final ending of Mockingjay stayed true to all the things that we knew about Katniss and Peeta and everyone in Panem. And it may not have been the "perfect" ending, but I think it was the proper one.

Alice I agree!!! I liked the book how it ended!! If Katniss died I don't know what I would do !
