Yes, but the author realized he made L fall in love with Light and that if ever did confirm if he's Kira, he would've tried to save him. So he had to kill him off. Ha. Sorry its my yaoi point of view.

I think, L was right to die, but he should've been broughten back, like, sometimes you could scratch out a name in the notebook and that person would come back!
