message 451: by Pollopicu (new)

Pollopicu I have about 20 un-read books in my shelf, but only because I continue to buy new ones as I read.

message 452: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (readerandwriter) I have about 2 years worth of books to read. Which is why I am making it a personal goal to NOT BUY ANYMORE BOOKS until I get my shelves down to a "reasonable" number.

message 453: by Jen (new)

Jen (wishesandwanderlust) I have 27 unread books. I've been trying to get that number down...but then I either get books from the library or somehow end up in a bookstore. :)

message 454: by Rita (new)

Rita I've yet to go through all the responses, but I've got 400+ unread books here at home.

April, I have the same problem. I own a lot and then I go to the library and never read what I have.

April and Rita, I am exactly the same way too. I have so many unread books of my own and keep borrowing from the library because I'm afraid I'm going to miss a good one!! LOL-I'm an addict!!

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) | 1045 comments I reported in a previous post that I had 27 unread books in my bookshelves. It seems to have grown quite a bit since then. I now have 82 unread books.

message 458: by Susan (new)

Susan Wow, thats quite a jump!! What happened?? LOL

Lynne | 55 comments When I start feeling guilty about my book buying and book hoarding, I simply turn to my fellow GoodReads addicts and instantly my guilt is assuaged.

message 460: by Susan (new)

Susan It makes me feel so much better to know that I'm not the only one who hoards and has so so many and still keeps buying.......

message 461: by Mir (new)

Mir Most of the books I buy are being "saved" in case I run out of library books. Hey, it could happen...

It could... I live in Cincinnati. We have the 9 largest library in the United States! But still there are times when the library does not have things that I need.

message 463: by Dara (new)

Dara | 88 comments Ummmm...I have way too many to count! When I find books at a bargain I can't help but buy them....then of course I have my library books that when they come I HAVE to read them because I have to return them.

message 464: by Lianne (new)

Lianne (eclecticreading) How many book have you bought that are still sat on your shelves at home?
Here at home I have about 12 books. At my dorm I have about 5 books so that makes 17 books in total (it's been a while since my TBR has gone that big---and they're all books that I own) xD

message 465: by Ashley (new)

Ashley (roybalam) | 46 comments There are about 15-20 books that I need to read (not including the "Chronicles of Narnia" and the "His Dark Materials" trilogy...),but that's only because I thought I was going to be doing some major reading this year, only to be taken up by my AP European history class :(

I am still buying books from my to-buy list, though... I all of a sudden got into this book-buying craze that is leaving me broke xD

message 466: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Elizabeth Ashley, I know what you mean. I got a job at Barnes & Noble my senior year in high school. Before that, I would borrow so many books from the library, and if they didn't have what I wanted (which was incredibly often), I'd be like 'oh, well, one less book on my list'. But see employee discount....?? Ever since, I buy books like my life depends on it. I'm as broke as the rest of my college friends, but they've all like bought whole new wardrobes or good food in the city. I have a stack of books in every crevice of this dorm room.

message 467: by Lindz (new)

Lindz (miss_bovary00) Yeah I am the same, work in a book store in Australia, I have a box in the back room filled with books I must buy on pay day.

message 468: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Elizabeth Hahahaha that's awesome. And P.S. I want to come to Australia so I'm jealous enough already haha <3

Sarah, you're the best! You remind me so much of my daughter when she was in college, she would go to the thrift stores for her clothes then off to the book store to spend her money on 'real things" do me a favor, next time you're buying books, buy yourself a nice fancy book bag to carry all of those books around in!

message 470: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Elizabeth Ooooooh, Rosemary, I like that idea. Thanks for the idea, the permission, and the fodder for my disease. :) :)

I now have 12 unread books at home and that's a personal record for me. The pile looks very intimidating, maybe I should start with the shorter ones.

message 473: by Andrez (new)

Andrez (andrez-ssi) well....most of the books in my living room (the bookcase occupies the whole wall, without counting with the ones in my room).those are my parents'.theyre almost all history books, I hate history

message 474: by Julianne (new)

Julianne | 314 comments I just moved, and I need to buy a new bookcase (side note!), but I separated my books into "read" and "to be read". I haven't read yet but I have 2 shelves worth on my unread bookcase, and it's probably over 50. And I know I have books at my dad and sister's house that I haven't read yet.

message 475: by Stefanie (new)

Stefanie Helbich (tigress47) | 3 comments I think I have a good 15 or 20 to be read. Not sure when I will get around to reading them, but I hope it will be sooner rather than later!

ilona (svaubajkama) 200 at least, although i didn't count..
what to say, i keep buying new ones while i'm still borrowing books from library and friends :/
btw, good idea for making shelf, i'll definitely do it ;)

message 481: by Dree (new)

Dree I can't even answer this--my husband and I have mixed our books for 20 years. (What is more amazing is that I have known him for over half my life now!) What's his? What's mine? Who knows.

I have bought exactly 1 fiction book in 9 years. A friend's first novel. Yes, I have read it. It was good.

My becoming a library girl through-and-through was a budget decision. I never did by hardbacks though, I have always gone to the library for new fiction!

Now, I do have 3 library fiction books sitting here that I haven't touched. And 1 from my queue has come in. Ruh-Roh!

message 482: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm so guilty of splurging I don't even want to count.

message 483: by Trish (new)

Trish | 22 comments I have over 100 , yet as soon as I am done with one I go to swaptree and get another. I have never had any duplicates except this last week. Everyone here has been raving about Shutter Island so I swapped for it and it is on its way. I told my mom about it and she told me that I had loaned that book to her months ago and to tell me if she liked it.. but she had not gotten around to it yet. So now I am the proud owner of 2 unread copies. sigh.

message 484: by Lindz (new)

Lindz (miss_bovary00) You can keep one in your car the other on your bed side table :)

message 485: by Susan (new)

Susan Okay so I need to add 55 new books to my books at home that I havent read! I won an auction on Ebay for 55 romantic suspense books, lots of great authors and all for 20 bucks including shipping!! Hope I can get the box in the house when my husband is at work-hahahaha.
