Task 20.1 Most Improved Player: Stacie MI's task-Groundhog's Day!
February 2nd is Groundhog's Day. In honor of the Bill Murray movie of the same title, re-read a book that you didn't initially enjoy. Go to your Read shelf and choose a book, of at least 100 pages, that you rated 3 stars or less to re-read.
Optional: Tell us whether you have changed your opinion of the book or whether you stick by your initial rating.

Yes, as long you attempted to read it before, it will work.

Sue (suetinge) | 1579 comments Stacie, I've got several books I've marked as "Read" but never actually rated. Can I use one of them?

As long as you did actually read the book you ultimately choose, yes that will work.

Christine US (christineus) | 575 comments I have a lot of books I've read and not put on here as "read". Can I use one of those? or does it specifically have to be something I marked? (usually if I hate something, I don't waste the energy ever thinking enought about it to rate somewhere)

I would prefer if it were actually listed on your page.

Karen Michele Burns (klibrary) | 2062 comments I have a book I'd like to use that I think fits the idea of the task, but I want to check it out. This is only my 3rd challenge and I joined goodreads for the challenge, so my lists are all recent, in fact I didn't give many 3s or lower out & many of them I just read. I participate in another challenge and I chose Foucault's Pendulum by Umberto Eco for that challenge because I got part way through it before and I'd like to give it a second chance. This seems to be what you have in mind for this task, but can you let me know if it will work, please?

Yes, there are at least a dozen books I've marked as read but never rated. I'll pick one of them.

Beth F | 669 comments Cool task. This gives me the opportunity and motivation to reread either Animal Farm or Watership Down. I read and dislike both at around age 13 or 14 but have long suspected age would improve my opinion of them.

JC (jmnc) | 638 comments After checking the SRC rules, I didn't find anything about books of poetry. I'm rereading a book of poetry that was the lowest rated book on my shelves, but wanted to make sure this was ok before posting. BTW, still hate this book of poetry: A Night Without Armor : Poems.

I'll give you the go-ahead! I see nothing wrong with using a book of poetry for this task.

Thanks, I posted it and my points are on the readerboard, so I guess it was ok!

There's no rule that bars poetry!

message 21: by Bea (new)

Bea Until I joined the reading challenge, I had not been reading much. And, the only books on my Have Read List rated 3 were books that I have done as part of the challenge. None are rated lower than 3. Would it be OK to read a book that I have started and never finished? I have four of those listed in MY BOOKS - To Finish Reading List. They were all listed back in Sept 2010.

Yes, that will work
