I understand how you feel, and I've always been (and will always be) a big lover of a physical book. However, I use my iPod Touch to read some books and I love it so much!!!

There are several reasons for this.

I don't have to carry books with me all the time. I'm the kind of person that when I look for a new handbag, I make sure I can fit an average book in it. I never go anywhere without one of my books. With the iPod, I don't have to do that! I have hundreds of books right at my fingertips without having to make room for them in my bag. :-)
That also makes it possible for me to switch between different books on a trip, without having to have all of them with me.
I almost always end up having both the physical copy and the e-book, so the e-reader is used for traveling. When I went to school, and used to go back and forth between my dad's house and my apartment, every summer I'd bring cases of books home with me. I do much less of that kind of thing now. :-)

Another thing that I love with having an e-reader, that you don't think about when you're used to reading a physical book, is that it has its own light! For example, in the car, at night, on the way home from somewhere, I can still read my book! (As a passenger, of course. ;-)

Of course there are things I miss by not having a physical book. Things like having a better sense of much I've read, and how much is left. On the other hand, my wrists don't ache from holding a heavy book up for a long time.

One more great thing with e-books, is that it's instantly available when you want to read it. I'm in Sweden, so getting hold of (cheap) books isn't always easy, and it can take a week or so before I get a book after ordering it.

Hope I was able to help by explaining my reasons for loving e-books. :D

Hello, Marie! You are VERY welcome here. I didn't hit 104 books last year but sure had fun trying. It was very cool to look back on my reading list with (mostly) fond memories.

Glad to have you here!

Thanks Jennifer for making me feel so welcome!

I really love the idea of sharing my reading experience with others, and getting inspiration for what to read next at the same time.

I'm looking forward to this! I'm going to start by reading everyone's introductions, and then introduce myself. :-) (Not today, though, since it's already midnight here!)

Linda Boyd (boydlinda95gmailcom) @Diane - I know exactly how you feel Diane, I had a hard time moving to an ereader, I have a Nook and love it. I also love the feel of a book and still read my hardback books along with my reading books on my Nook, at this point, I don't think I will ever be able to give them up.

@Jen - I also love looking at my hardback books on my bookshelves, there is nothing like it!!

Pam Williams | 39 comments Just finished the audiobook of The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner. It was an interesting addendum to the Twilight Saga.

I was totally against them too - but the money I will save will be enough that it's worth it. While I'm quite the bargain shopper, finding time to devote to seeking out the books I want at the price I can pay can some what be annoying. Typically nook books are 1/2 the price of buying them in the store, sometimes less and sometimes free - they do a free best seller every friday.

Also, I'm usually reading 2-3 books at a time and this way I don't have to lug them all around with me.

I really love my Nook, and still can go buy my hard covers of the ones I love.

Book friends are definitely the best kind. Other types of friends just don't understand the addiction as deeply lol.

There's an "add book/author" tab right above the comment box.

Hello Okiecavies! Welcome to the group! I'm a huge Stephanie Plum fan. Makes me smile to see them on your list.

Please create your own topic to post your books. Check out the FAQ discussion in the group for instructions on how to accomplish that task.

Thanks for joining us! I look forward to seeing your list grow throughout the year!

Amber (memyshelfandi) | 69 comments OKay girls....help is needed I've been getting this look from my husband that if I don't stop reading so much he might leave me....lol. (I finished book #20 for the year, about 30 minutes ago...)

I've read enough for 10 weeks and not fall behind...the real question here is can I handle not reading as much??? I'm going to be a closet reader, there's going to be books hidden in plastic bags in the toilet....I might need rehab..the twitching has already started....

I have my book club books to read yet...and those are mandatory or I'll be kicked out....really the girls in my club are strict bitches (that's my story and I'm sticking to it)

Ok I think I just needed to rant. That helped! Now where's book 21.....

message 70: by Margaret (new)

Margaret Stephens OK, just finished Trollope's Dr. Thorne, nowhere near as good as Barchester Towers, which I also just finished. A big disappointment, in fact: wooden characters.
Is this where I keep a list, and if so, how? not to show my age. . . .

Hi Meg,

Contrary to the title of this topic, this is not where you keep your reading list. LOL! Check out the FAQ topic for instructions.

Thanks for joining us!
