Her undying faith in him that he does deserve her and her love and knowing that no matter what, she will always stand by him, even if she doesn't agree with what he wants, she knows that there is a legitimate reason for it and is willing to trust that he knows what he's doing and supports him.
Agreed Debbie! She's gotta be stead fast in her belief that he is a good person and she has to be strong enough to prove it to him! Sometimes it's the ones that are quiet and demure that can do it too. They make the bad boy feel young and innocent again! *sigh* I heart the "reforming the bad guy" plot lines. <3

Someone smart enough not to get hooked into rescuing him, but focusing on being a help mate for him, standing beside him, even when, or especially when he doubts himself redeemable. Someone who does not follow him down in his spiral, but stays close (mentally emotionally if not physically), to aid him when he wants to rise or wants to choose redemption.
In other words, someone strong.

You hit the nail on the head
I agree with all of the above. I'll add to it that she needs to be strong enough in her own self-worth or esteem not to bend or cave in to his personality when things are hard.
