umm... what does that have to do with a hurricane? i had bing translate it: In 2002, three scientists from the University of Costa Rica (UCR) alerted that there is danger of a landslide in the mountain Pico Blanco, in San Antonio, Escazú.

A quiet 'Thomas' attracted excessive rainfall
Avalanche kills family when he attempted to escape in a vehicle
Avalanche went to his house and nothing happened
The multidisciplinary team, integrated by geologist William Alvarado, Rafael Arce geographer and archaeologist José Martín Sánchez, outlined in that mountain of 2,271 metres above the sea level "there potential risks for the eventual downfall of large blocks."
Experts said there were conditions that led the fall of enormous blocks of material at high speed (120 kilometers per hour), "which have been identified in areas that gradually will be populating with more homes." "In addition, there are scars and planes left by the collapse of large blocks and slabs in the hills of Pico Blanco and surroundings", detailed.
The study noted on other dangers in nearby Santa Ana and Alajuelita elevations.
Escazú has an alluvial fan consisting of multiple rivers such as the Agres, cross and Anmals) and Gorges as Lajas, where the most recent tragedy occurred.
"San Antonio de Escazú, Santa Ana and river gold stocks have gone from being a rural residential complexes and in continuous development."
"In that area due to active landslides (Tapezco, Alto de las Palomas) potential hazards are well known, but are less known hazards generated by possible avenues stormy alluvial (material descending rivers)," wrote the report prepared for the 7th seminar of Geotechnics.
Ancient tragedy. The document referred to the tragedy of October 24, 1861 in Escazú, this time caused by a neighbouring Hill Pico Blanco: San Miguel, popularly known as the of "the cross of Alajuelita".
19 October that year, a sliding fell on the River Agres and caused tamponade.
Five days later, in full celebration the day of San Rafael, the dam broke.
Experts speak of contradictory figures and even some texts mentioned 400 fatalities, but only the death of the peasant Miguel Jiménez was documented.
President Cleto González Víquez (1906-1910) compiled a tale of tragedy. "At about 9: 30 a.m., the entire population of this city and suburbs was alarmed by a great noise in the southern direction, similar to that produced a waterfall and sometimes as the waves of the rough sea."
"But what was the cause of as sudden as never seen Avenue?" At noon, the entire population could know it, because having been cleared a little southern cordillera San Miguel were manifest large landslides and copious water springs.
"Is not known until now the extension of the ruin and damage caused to life and property." "Yesterday appeared three corpses and missed less to several people," outlined in La Gaceta de on October 27, 1861.
The document highlighted that many families were ruined because it houses, trapiches and reedbeds disappeared.

I personally think your government is self-centered. Do you guys learn anything but U.S history in history class? Do you learn about different countries?
:DD I'm kind of COMPLETELY AND TOTALLY obsessed with that show.
I love rain and thunder. But not too much of it. That's why I should consider not moving to Hawaii.
