For 20.5, it appears from the reviews on GR that the main character is a girl, not an adult woman, for at least most of the book. The unconventional woman for this task is supposed to be a woman, not a girl. Also, it's not at all clear from the GR reviews how the protagonist of this book is unconventional, goes against societal norms, etc.

Nicole, each of the 3 books must be from a different subgenre. Of course, you're going to have duplicates on the series/standalone criterion, but for 3 books, you have to use 3 different subgenres. You've listed two in the same series, from the same subgenre.

From the task description:
In addition, all books must be chosen from different sub-genres of YA (defined below).

For the purposes of this task the genres are defined as follows:
A. Romance
B. Mystery/Suspense/Thriller
C. Historical Fiction
D. Non-fiction
E. Sci-Fi / Fantasy
F. Dystopian
G. Paranormal
H. Issue oriented: substance abuse, mental illness, rape, etc.

While in our times, a 15 year old would be considered a girl, in her time she was considered an adult. Not to give anything away, but she goes through some very adult stuff in that time. She goes against societal norms because instead of just wishing to be married off to some Roman, she teaches herself to be "useful" to the emperor so that she won't be killed off.

20.5 is my task and I am afraid that this book won't work. We have consistently rejected books involving teens and while the character may end up at 15 (perhaps a "woman" in her time), even adjusting for when it takes place, the book takes place over the years prior to that, which would be the equivalent of an older teen today. Also, I don't really see how Cleopatra's daughter is "larger than life". I'm sorry.

Hi Sandy -- after the last update you have me at 95 points, but I think I should have 120 (Tasks 5.3, 5.8, 5.9, 10.9, 15.7, 15.10, 20.3, 20.7, 25.1). I'm not sure if there was a problem with one of them or just a miscount.

115 is correct - see your post of 1/3, where you indicated 115 points. After going through all your posts, I think the problem may be in your own records - when you posted for task 5.1 (your second task posted), you called it 10.1 - you indicated at that point that you had a total of 15 points - since your first task was 10.9, the 15 points total that you indicated was correct for an actual post of 5.1. Since the task name you gave was "Short and Sweet" it was clearly supposed to be 5.1, so that's what I gave you credit for. If you wrote down somewhere that you did task 10.1, you may have thought you should have 120 points.

As of last night, you'd posted for 5.1, 5.3, 10.9, 15.4, 15.10, 20.2, 20.3 and 25.2 - a total of 115.

there's no problem with your post 1360, it counted. Please see message 125 in this thread - your post 1308 didn't fit the necessary requirements (200 page book)for task 15.4/

Kristi has one list for the BB tickets before the midpoint with just the totals up to that point, then a second list for the books claimed after the midpoint. both of your books are listed.

Kristi does the BB tickets, but I took a look at your old post and see that you didn't mention claiming a BB ticket in the post. Many people don't claim BB tickets or GR authors, so you need to say so if you want to.

See the posting requirements: 6. If you want to claim a Goodreads Author or a Big Books ticket, you must say so in your post

Just repost in the completed task thread, saying you're claiming the BB ticket for that book.

Since it is impossible for us to know about every book, we rely on our members tell us how books fit the tasks. When that book was first claimed it seemed appropriate and it was counted. It was described as the main character is a women who learns to read and write and find her own way in ancient Egypt- Really great book!

Your explanation included information that made us take another look, since you said it was about her childhood, so it didn't seem to fit the task.

Since your title had been counted previously, you may use it for 20.5, if you relied on this and didn't understand that books about childhood were disallowed in the help thread. I see that you've moved it to another task in the completed task thread - please let me know how you want to use this title.

At the top of all the readerboard updates, it states the post # through which the list has been updated. The GR author list has been updated through post 1456, so your post will not have been added yet.
