I have probably around 300 and I just keep buying them... I can't stop. And I can't seem to part with any of them even after I've read them. I told myself I'd stop after I got Kim Harrison's Pale Demon. Then I said I'd stop after I got Jim Butcher's Ghost Story (which the publication date got pushed back). Then I said I'd stop after I got the Blood+ novels. I've bought 10 books since then. I think I have an addiction. But we don't have any bookaholics groups :(

But we seriously don't want help, do we?? I LOVE my reading addiction. I get such joy from it and other than occasionally ignoring my DH, lol, it doesn't hurt anybody!!

Just found out that there's a group here on goodreads called Book Buying Addicts Anonymous. lol, I thought it fit well with this thread. :)
25 books that I own on my TBR, but a few of those I'm probably not going to read at all. I bought/swapped them a while ago and changed my mind about reading them.I have about 30 books from the library at my house currently, so I'm trying to read those first and avoid late fines :) I've had my card de-activated once because of fines, it wasn't fun, lol :)
My total TBR list (here on goodreads) is 400+ books and growing! I mark books 'to-read' if they sound even a little interesting. I actually had to create 4 sub-groups of my to-read list ranging from 'really interesting must read!' to 'sounds ok, but slim chance I'll actually read it' just to sort them out :)
-Lauren :)
I have about 25 books that I need to read. With Borders closing by my house the pile is getting bigger.
I still have 47 books to read that I've bought - not to mention another 20 that are currently on their way to me in the post! Eek! So nice to know I'm not the only excessive book buyer out there!
This thread makes me feel so much better! My husband just asked me the other day if there was any possible way that I had read all of the books I have stored in virtually every room of the house. Of course, I haven't. I have no idea how many books I have, (Maybe 500-700?) but I've only read about half of them. But my dream, once the kids are gone, is to convert a room into my own library with a minifridge and fireplace. There's a security for me in the fact that I can go into my room and pick a book out from any genre. Whatever mood I'm in, I can satisfy because I have so much to choose from. There are so many other addictions that I'm glad I don't have. Books are a great vice! I will never own too many!
I have 40 + books n i have two that i have yet to read I need some new ones tho any idea's as i will be done with these two in da next week

I would love to have more room for my books. I have a Kindle and a Sony Reader (for library and NetGalley books) yet I still buy paper in addition to Kindle and library books. I must have hundreds to read if you count the Kindle. I am out of my mind LOL.
Well I own over 4000 books. I probably haven't read 3500-3700 of them. I buy them to read and then find a new one that I want to read and with the public library so close to me. I have made a promise that I am trying to read one of my own books a month at least.
Rachelle wrote: "You think that's bsd, I just got my kindle because I don't have the room to store anymore books. I now have over 500 books on my kindle; of which I've only read six."I have the same situation Rachelle but not quite as many. I had over 500 books in my house counting my kids books, and I was out of room for more book shelves, so finally I just bought a kindle which I
have 228 books on right now. I've only read probably 60 of the books on my kindle so far so ......... I have about 600 on my wishlist. I'll never finish them all .
LibraryLass wrote: "And crazy as this sounds, lol, I actually re-read books I own that I love even with owning this many unread books...I currently have close to 1,000 books which are mine and are unread. About 200..."
Lol.........your husband is definitely just as bad . It's funny he doesn't see it . My dream job would be to work at a library btw but I would never get any work done. Definitely like giving an alcoholic the keys to a pub.
Too many! I'm a kindle addict and I get a rush when I buy a new one then it wears off before I either finish it or even start it. No, really. It's a problem. I vow to myself I won't buy anymore until I finish ALL the ones I haven't read. Then, a couple days later I find something interesting and say, "Just one more." It's a curse.
I am almost embarassed to say....I have 178 books here on GR and 30 on my kindle. Some of the books are on both lists.
hahah this discussion made me laugh, I have over 130 books on my shelf waiting to be read and I still keep buying new ones... don't wanna risk the chance of running out of books to read, do we?! LOL

I can't even tell you how man I have to read but it's a lot. I keep most of my unread book in storage containers under the bed in the guest room. Currently I think I have 7 containers... it's horrible. However, to my defense a Borders closed near my how and it was hard to pass on books 90% off.
Don't want to think about. Worse still...all the amazing books I want to re-read!Guess if I became immortal I know what I would do with my time besides rule over the world.
Wow! I have books that I've tried to read and discarded for better books, but I cannot own books without reading them the first chance I get. It is somewhat of an obsession. If I went and bought twenty books today, I would be on a non-stop reading frenzy and probably gain a few pounds along the way. So... I guess my buying books one at a time is kind of a good thing :)

Oh, how I like the way you think... Becoming an Immortal, not only to rule the world, your main focus would be reading. I think I would be like that, too... lol
Tooooooooooo many!!!, on my reader, on my shelf, and all the ones that i´m waiting for!! and I just keep buying them...
I have at least two to three thousand that I have to read. I try to read at least eight to ten a month if I can. So I can read for the next thirty years and never run out. I am nuts!
I have about 1300 of my own books, 95% of which I have yet to read! I also work at a public library so 95% of my reading is library books. So working out the math, and considering I buy more books per month than I read, I don't think I'll live long enough to read them all! ;)
I must say these posts have made me feel better that there are others like me out there :) as of this morning I have 418 books that I have bought but not read. That doesn't include the books I have read and still own. My husband came in the other day when I was putting more away and goes "Are you afraid they will stop making them?"
I read in another group that the number 1 reviewer on Goodreads has read something like 5K books and has 13K books on his/her TBR list. 13 THOUSAND??? Someone pointed out that it would mean if that member had 10 years, that would be 1,300 books per year!! But 13000 makes me feel so much better about my own TBR. :-)
I have several hundred physical books that I haven't read yet and since I got my Kindle have been loading that up as well. I think I have over 900 on my Kindle and I've probably only read 60-75 of them? I probably don't ever need to buy a book again, but I know that won't stop me!
Wow, you all put me to shame!!! I only have two that I haven't read yet.
Eight in total, but I've started to read six of them!
I'm pretty happy because I am slowly but surely getting through my pile of unread books. I haven't been to Borders in about two months and that's a LOOOONG time for me. I'm proud of myself for not buying any in so long. :P
