Sorry to start the discussion late...has anyone else finished it?
Any preliminary thoughts? What did you think of the 2 main characters, Cressida and Charles? I was confused at first with all the back and forth between the two stories, but I did figure it out after a few chapters.

Karen (karenlibrarian13) | 26 comments I liked it but I thought it was so sad. Interesting to read this book which was written before the war was over, it gives such a different perspective -- I'm so used to knowing the outcome.

Good point, Karen! I hadn't even thought about that (that the war wasn't over yet when it was written). And this was definitely not one of the more cheerful books we've read in this group. Cressida's thoughts on page 110 (to me) really summed up the tone of the book and really resonated with me.
