What things do you like to see a hero do in books that you end up loving?

*I LOVE seeing the hero show emotions where his friendships are concerned; male bonding, etc.)
*Hero is kind to animals.
*Hero sings.

Oh, and i forgot one other thing.
VOICES!
I like voice details. Is it a sweet angelic tenor, a growl, a drawl, a combination of things? This is something that fascinates me, because I've never heard two completely identical voices and I think this is an area that could bring so much dimension and definition to a character, authors don't spend a lot of time on them.

I agree that a lot of authors I have read don't convey voices as strongly as I would like. It stands out when author does that very well.
