Courtney, I love your list. I could not agree more. I love virgin heroes!

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments There never seems to be very many virgin heroes about though, but it is a rare treat when you find one

More writers should write virgin heroes.

My Forever Love (Robin Hood, #4) by Marsha Canham has a virgin hero :)

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments These are the ones I can remember:

Dark Needs at Night's Edge (Immortals After Dark, #5) by Kresley Cole Unleash the Night (Dark-Hunter, #8) (Were-Hunter, #3) by Sherrilyn Kenyon

I knew someone was going to mention Jamie. I haven't read the book yet. It's too long for me right now,if I find it at a book sale, I will buy it and read it slowly. It might take me months to finish it, but I will finish it.

message 60: by EvaS (new)

EvaS (evikes) | 20 comments Of course I'd mention him… how could I not (my avatar is also my image of him, btw)! I read that monster of a book in about 3 weeks, and only because it took a week to get to the point where she goes through the stones (about 50 pages in)... there was no stopping after that! He embodies all the characteristics you have all mentioned and is my ideal man.

I'm going to make a confession....I did not like Outlander.

I couldn't even finish it, I hated it that bad.

Mel Spencer (melspen) | 29 comments I've read all of the outlander books, well most of them, I skipped the companion books, I've since passed them on to my Mom, who LOVE LOVE LOVES them. Mom and I often tease about boarding a plane to Scotland to jump into circles of stones, mushrooms, anything we can find!

You should check out Crave by JR Ward, Virgin Hero, is he truly good or bad? that's what the whole series is about. I finished the second book called Covet, and Im waiting...and waiting for the next installment.

(It's possible I got the titles backwards, I can't keep them straight.)

♡Meme♡Reads love♡ | 203 comments I love it when the hero cry's and pours out his heart her... aahh sigh!

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments I have to say I don't like it when a hero cries too much, I like it when he is showing vulnrability but no outright sobbing! : )

♡Meme♡Reads love♡ | 203 comments Well I didn't mean sobbing either just a good cry, showing some emotion. I don't think Iv'e ever read a book where the guy is outright sobbing, that would be too much for me too. :)

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 474 comments Ah yes I see what you mean : ) Especially when it is a hero that is very either stoic/cold.

I love your avatar btw very christmassy!

♡Meme♡Reads love♡ | 203 comments Yes yes a stoic/cold hero showing emotion thats my down fall... Thank you, had to get into the spirit of things. I had fun making it too.

Jaime Rush (jaime_rush) | 59 comments Fun topic! I love it when the hero helps the heroine to let go of baggage or find the beauty in herself that she didn't think was there.

And when she cries and it just kills him.

I'd thought about writing a virgin hero, which would have worked in that story, but then...how's he so good in bed??? Porn, LOL? Hm, but now I'm rethinking it, given your enthusiasm here. Oh, yes, Jaime Fraser....yum! I have to say, though, I lost interest after the third book. Each book got longer and had more details I didn't think were necessary, given the length as it was.

To me, it's sexy to see a virgin hero learn his skills with the heroine. And to know that he has so much enthusiasm about the learning process. :)

I'm not always the greatest fan of virgin heroes....it really all depends on how he's written. I don't like a lot of fumbling and awkwardness LOL

message 77: by Jaime (new)

Jaime Rush (jaime_rush) | 59 comments Yeah, no fumbling or awkwardness, which was why I didn't write it that way. But now that I'm looking at the story, I think it's more logical that he's a virgin and I could have lots of fun with it. And since it's first draft, it's completly doable. Already changed the one scene. Ooh, fun!

Me too, Arch. As far as inexperience, a hero has to learn somewhere. Why not with the heroine?

Oh, most of my favorites are virgin heroes who are dangerous. :)

message 82: by Jaime (last edited Jan 07, 2011 01:10PM) (new)

Jaime Rush (jaime_rush) | 59 comments What will be very interesting is that the heroine is also a virgin, for her own reasons (not just saving herself for love, blah blah). So they'll be experimenting together!

So can you tell me what it is exactly that you like about virgin heroes? I'm thinking it would be fun to include readers' thoughts for a future guest blog.

To me dangerous bad boy/bad boy period is sexual experience blind.

Let me use this example. I honestly don't believe that every man that's in the military is having sex. I strongly believe we have some military men that are virgins. Why can't a virgin fight in a battle?

It's nice to see when a hero and heroine are both virgins. In my story Courage, both of my characters are virgins.

I like the idea that the H/h's first partner is their true love, the heroine or hero. The romantic in me. I think sex is best with someone you love.

♡Meme♡Reads love♡ | 203 comments I agree Lady Danielle, thats how it was for me and my hubby. High school sweethearts going on 12 years of marriage.

So how did you like writing the scenes where they're both doing it for the first time? Now I've got to go back during the first round of revisions and change things up. Should be fun, though!

Awww. Funny, my dh and I overlapped one year in the same high school but ran in totally different crowds. In two weeks we'll be married 21 years!

Jaime, I think that a virgin hero can be a good lover if he's considerate and tries to learn what makes his partner feel good. Not to be blunt, but we know he probably won't last as long, but there are other ways to make the lovemaking enjoyable for the woman. That's the approach I take when I write my stories with a virgin hero.

message 90: by Arch (new)

Arch | 4246 comments Mod
Jaime, I haven't written the love scene yet.

I don't think that because a man is experienced, it means that he will last longer than a man that's a virgin. A lot of experienced men in books didn't last long. Women last longer than men. (Prime example: Sam vs Alyssa.)

message 91: by Jaime (new)

Jaime Rush (jaime_rush) | 59 comments You're right, Lady Danielle, as long as he's thoughtful, wanting to learn, he could be a good lover. And there are resources out there on how to please a woman, and erotic movies, books, that he could study.

I've not seen premature ejaculation in a love scene. (Though he does go off in a certain situation where they're not actually making love!)

Heroes are supposed to be uber lovers, hard again in minutes after orgasm, etc. It's good to be realistic, I think. But it does seem unheroic if the guy goes before the woman, at least in romance novels. And if he has to apologize after the love scene...that's not good. You have to find that line between realism and fantasy.

message 92: by Arch (new)

Arch | 4246 comments Mod
I don't read or write for fantasy. I like my stories to have reality in them.

♡Meme♡Reads love♡ | 203 comments I agree with Arch, with having the realism in the sex scenes. It just makes them more real and you enjoy it more cause you can relate to their imperfectness(did I say that right?)..lol and them wanting to learn how to please you makes it all the better. And so what if thet end up going before the heroine the have lots of fun making it up to her and spend a lot time doing it.
