What things do you like to see a hero do in books that you end up loving?

I knew someone was going to mention Jamie. I haven't read the book yet. It's too long for me right now,if I find it at a book sale, I will buy it and read it slowly. It might take me months to finish it, but I will finish it.

I'm going to make a confession....I did not like Outlander.
I couldn't even finish it, I hated it that bad.

You should check out Crave by JR Ward, Virgin Hero, is he truly good or bad? that's what the whole series is about. I finished the second book called Covet, and Im waiting...and waiting for the next installment.
(It's possible I got the titles backwards, I can't keep them straight.)

I love your avatar btw very christmassy!

And when she cries and it just kills him.
I'd thought about writing a virgin hero, which would have worked in that story, but then...how's he so good in bed??? Porn, LOL? Hm, but now I'm rethinking it, given your enthusiasm here. Oh, yes, Jaime Fraser....yum! I have to say, though, I lost interest after the third book. Each book got longer and had more details I didn't think were necessary, given the length as it was.
To me, it's sexy to see a virgin hero learn his skills with the heroine. And to know that he has so much enthusiasm about the learning process. :)
I'm not always the greatest fan of virgin heroes....it really all depends on how he's written. I don't like a lot of fumbling and awkwardness LOL

You know, I didn't think that was possible, but now I can see the possibilities!

So can you tell me what it is exactly that you like about virgin heroes? I'm thinking it would be fun to include readers' thoughts for a future guest blog.
To me dangerous bad boy/bad boy period is sexual experience blind.
Let me use this example. I honestly don't believe that every man that's in the military is having sex. I strongly believe we have some military men that are virgins. Why can't a virgin fight in a battle?
It's nice to see when a hero and heroine are both virgins. In my story Courage, both of my characters are virgins.

I like the idea that the H/h's first partner is their true love, the heroine or hero. The romantic in me. I think sex is best with someone you love.

So how did you like writing the scenes where they're both doing it for the first time? Now I've got to go back during the first round of revisions and change things up. Should be fun, though!

Awww. Funny, my dh and I overlapped one year in the same high school but ran in totally different crowds. In two weeks we'll be married 21 years!
Jaime, I think that a virgin hero can be a good lover if he's considerate and tries to learn what makes his partner feel good. Not to be blunt, but we know he probably won't last as long, but there are other ways to make the lovemaking enjoyable for the woman. That's the approach I take when I write my stories with a virgin hero.
Jaime, I haven't written the love scene yet.
I don't think that because a man is experienced, it means that he will last longer than a man that's a virgin. A lot of experienced men in books didn't last long. Women last longer than men. (Prime example: Sam vs Alyssa.)

I've not seen premature ejaculation in a love scene. (Though he does go off in a certain situation where they're not actually making love!)
Heroes are supposed to be uber lovers, hard again in minutes after orgasm, etc. It's good to be realistic, I think. But it does seem unheroic if the guy goes before the woman, at least in romance novels. And if he has to apologize after the love scene...that's not good. You have to find that line between realism and fantasy.
