Shannon | 94 comments I have a stack of new books. As I get them I descide immediately when i want to read which one. Then i stack them up by my bed. So when I finish one i put it on the shelf and grab the next one off the night stand.
Unless I get a first read book. Then that goes to the head of the line! Cause I'm so excited about getting a free book! lol (yeah I don't get out much.)

It sounds enticing, doesn't it.

He is also the author of How to Be Totally Miserable: A Self-Hinder Book in which "you'll learn how to be a breath of stale air at any occasion."

message 65: by Carol (new)

Carol | 1678 comments a breath of stale air, ha! I work with guy that must've read that. He starts every excruciating rant with "You'll find this interesting" or "Here's a funny story." No, I won't! No, it's not!!

That's the color of my bedroom (not my bedroom, would I ever read Live Your Best Life, no). I'm not crazy about it.

That hurts just thinking about it. I have two bedroom closets, one on either side of the bed, with doors that open out. There's no room to put anything next to the bed.

message 81: by Janice (new)

Janice (jamasc) Someone has piles.. of books, that is.

message 82: by Louise (new)

Louise My to-read list are books I own, but have not read yet. I use my Amazon wishlist or scraps of papers for books I might want to get/wish for at a later time.
When I want to read something, I sit in the middle of my library and look at the bookcases until something chatches my eye ;-)

message 83: by Helena (new)

Helena | 1056 comments This year, I made a literary New Year's resolution- to read more of the books on my TBR. It's working out well so far. I've been choosing every other book from my TBR pile. I'm not home, or I'd take a picture of my actual 'tbr' shelf.

A nice mix there, Helena. I've read The Scapegoat and Great Gatsby.

There are currently 128 books on my "To Read" shelf.

I do not read my books in the order they appear on my "To Read" shelf, neither do I watch films in the order they appear on Netflix (streaming anyway). But, I do "pay attention" to it. I don't add books to my "To Read" shelf unless I physically have them in my possession. If I simply want to read a book and haven't purchased or borrowed it yet, I write it in my little Moleskine. But, the "To Read" shelf on GR is a direct representation of my "To Read" shelf at home IRL. I have a whole self dedicated to books I need to read. :P

message 95: by Kayla (new)

Kayla (atekayla) I currently have 223 books on my To Read shelf here on GR. I update it constantly because I have a ridiculous amount of books I want to read (or in some cases, books from my childhood that I want to reread). But when it comes to picking out a book to read, I just choose whatever I feel like reading at the time, and if it's part of a series, I like to read the entire series in order :)

message 96: by [deleted user] (new)

I stare at my real shelf at home and wait for one of them to "talk to me".

Helena | 1056 comments Lobstergirl wrote: "A nice mix there, Helena. I've read The Scapegoat and Great Gatsby."

I’m all over the map with genres. I’m rereading Great Gatsby for book club at work (better than the Tucker Max book I had to read!) and just picked up The Scapegoat for another group read- looking forward to it, sounds good.
