Katie (skateanddonate) | 11 comments To me it was extremely frustrating. The first few books the plots didn't hook me until the final pages when--BAM! They would end on a cliff hanger. Aggravated me, because I thought I was buying a complete story and then would be forced to buy the next book to see how the climax ended.

Of course then a year later the next book would start and when the scene would play out...it just wasn't at the same urgency (energy) level of the previous book's writing (ending). Needless to say after the first book I waited and bought the rest used.

I'm hoping it will be better once the final book is released and I can read the complete story at one time, because I loved some of the insights of the main character.

I felt the same way too! There were so many parts were I thought for sure it's going to pick up, or maybe something will happen. and then it will go a whole new direction. These books totally have stumped me. But I am SO hooked! There are so many mysterious characters I'm only on Bloodfever, but I really hope some clues are solved or even a hint of the Romance that theses books are supposedly suppose to be would be nice as well. I guess we will just have to be tortured till the end of December :(

I totally agree with you! I had the exact same situation starting to read the books right after book 4 came out, and I have been having series Barrons withdrawals for months now! I give Kudos to all of you who went through the entire struggle from the beginning!

True Love Forever (trueloveforever) | 329 comments I think i would have lost my intenisty too for the books if I hadn't read the first 4 altogether. Now I am obssesed!(did I spell that right?.

You know, I think I still would have enjoyed the books even if I had to wait one by one. I read the sookie stackhouse series and that collection has lots of books with even more coming out. I tend to enjoy series of books the most because I feel like you get to know the characters better, and the storyline can develop much more. I am also a fan of several other series: the mortal instruments, the infernal devices, fallen, chicagoland vampires, and many many more! If any of you need some books to pass your time waiting for "THE" book (as I refer to shadowfever) send me a msg : )

Regina (reginar) I do have several series I follow that have a wait between books, but I see the point that the Fever series is different because it is one storyline covered over 5 books v. a complete story in each book (like the Sookie books). Most series have some threads left hanging, but with the Fever series everything is left hanging over a period of years! For me, I read all 4 in less than a week in January of this year, so to me it was like only 1 cliffhanger. But I have heard from local neighbors and friends that they just got sick of it and lost interest several years ago. I can totally get that. Great point.

I recently finsihed two series (up to date anyway) that end with cliffhangers (Sirantha Jax #4 and Harry Dresden Files #12) BUT each story has a complete struggle that ends with satisfaction. The cliffhanger is something different and new. Anyway, for this reason I won't read Moning's new series until she has finished writing it. It will be hard to dismiss, but I know what she does and I just am not up for the torture -- especially when I love her world and the way she writes, it would be torture.

I heard for many people waiting between Drustan's HL book and Deagus's HL book was torture and over a year -- I bet that was difficult too!

But I still love Moning, the Fever world and I can say I was hooked for the first sentance on the first page of Darkfever.

Nicole Brown (nickichicki) | 37 comments It. was. awful. Lol seriously, there were plenty of times when i got to the end of a book, swore and wished i hadn't heard of this amazing series until it was all released. I immediately consumed the Highlander books for more clues, I paced around message boards and eventually found other great series to occupy my mind for awhile.

But yeah, I am SO relieved that in a mere few days I will have answers and closure. I hope.
