Some one asked me to write a piece of flash horror, but I have a hard enough time keeping short stories under 5,000 words, let alone 1,000 words. But I tried, and the result was "As Seen on Craig's List", though it is closer to 1,500 words than 1,000, but good enough for me. One day it may be fleshed out into a full short story or novella.
