its just south of my by about 30-45 minutes. Angelic is very pretty indeed. I love all the old vintage victorian stuff. My house is Victorian, built pre 1880 and I got it on teh State and National Historic registar a few years back.

Heidi, that is soooo beautiful. I love how wintery and romantic your house looks. I would love to curl up and read a book there.Mshj, that looks like my kind of town. I'm a city girl for sure but I can see all the potential of living there.

E. wrote: "That's so nice, Mshj! So beautiful."Thank you all- it isn't mine- I just happen to live here! I moved down to join my partner 11 years ago. It is in many ways a wonderful place- stunning setting, close community etc It reminds me a little of what I think that LK is trying to give the impression of Friday Harbour as being. Anyway- it is in England, in the far South West- called Dartmouth.
Oh what gorgeous photos - almost fairytale houses in the snow!I live just outside London. We're lucky because it's quite a green area, some allotments just over the road and lots of gardens and verges, but the houses are quite crammed together.
I'd love to post a photo but not sure how to do it.
Any one able to tell me how to download a photo into the comments box?
Grace x
My great grandma was from Pontrhydyfen, Wales, which is north of Port Talbot. I would love to go there some day and still have family in the area.

My husband (who is Welsh by birth) tells me that Richard Burton was born in Pontrhydyfen!
He is a relation to me! lol. I'm not directly descended from him, but I think it was my great grandma that was his cousin, or his fathers cousin. Its all a blur, I need to look at family tree to be sure. All I remember for sure is that my Great Grandma use to visit him in New York every few years before she went to Wales to visit family.
I knew a lot of my family history and my dad and grandma were talking about Richard Burton a few weeks ago, and I was thinking "I've heard family stories my whole life, how was this not mentioned to me before?" LOL

LOL
I'm in the process of trying to do research on that side of my family, learning about their culture and lives. I recently joined the Wales and Welsh Group on goodreads, http://www.goodreads.com/group/show/1... so I can get book recommendations and what not.

BTW- Welsh genealogy is quite difficult because of the nature of the names originating from the patriachal forename so lots of people have the same name but aren't related. I expect you already know that Megan.

Yes. it is difficult, but luckily my ancestors were pretty good about documenting things and passing them on. Its still a process though.
I'm so jealous of you, Tess!! I've wanted to visit there ever since I read Kleypas's Texas-trilogy. Maybe some day...I think I'm the only one (at the moment) from Scandinavia... Yep, I'm from Helsinki, Finland and the spring has finally arrived!!!

My grandparents owned a brownstone on Dean Street forever!! Bought it in like 1968-1970...recently sold it for a mint!! I wish we had kept in the family though...loved that house!
