When I search for the ISBN for The Oxford Illustrated Jane Austen Minor works, this comes up: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/50...

Unfortunately, the cover image, the page count and the format is incorrect. It states that it should be a hardcover but mine is paperback. It also appears to be newer than the one in the image.

Here is the listing I found that has the correct cover image and the correct page count but it also shows as Hardcover, which mine is not, the publish date is the original one when my revision appears to be from 1988. Also, the ISBN is completely different than mine.

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/70...

I should say, too, that this copy does appear to be part of a collection as there is no individual UPC code. Here is the ISBN for the collection: 0-19-254707-0. Here is the listing for that collection in which the cover image is obviously not correct: http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/21...

I'm not sure where to proceed from here to make sure the listing information is correct.

Thank you!

Sounds like you need to create an alternate-cover edition.

Ada Macey (adamacey) | 11 comments So, I'm not a librarian, but I've ran in to a similar problem and don't know the way forward.

I've got a copy of "The Evolutionary Void" by Peter F. Hamilton. Now, the copy I have is a 726 page paperback version. The ISBN 13 shown on my version of the book however comes up as 600 pages long on goodreads.

There is a hardcover version of the book with the same cover art and pagecount as mine, however the ISBN 13 is different (and mine is paperback)

So, reading through the site it appears as if the way forward is to create an alternate cover version.

Where I run in to trouble though is that I'm not a librarian, so I can't put librarian notes in like the FAQ says I should. So given the crossover between ISBN, cover art and page count on the 3 versions, I'm concerned that someone will come along and undo my version

So, what to do? Do I have to become a librarian to create my version with some level of assurance it will stay in place, or is there another option that doesn't give me editing abilities that will tempt me to spend more time on this site than is healthy? :)

Cyron, if you create your alternate version and link to it here, a librarian can add the relevant Note.
