Shana (brazen) | 3 comments I so badly need a series I can fall in love with again.. I have to find something soon. I want a book I refuse to sleep because of.. I've loved a few series, A song of Ice and Fire, Harry Potter, Eragon, Twilight, and Dr. Cross by James Patterson. I'm open to anything at this point. I love mystery, fantasy, and true crime. I'm willing to try romance as long as there's a plot besides soft porn.. lol If you can tell me a little bit about why you loved them that would help.. Thanks

Lu | 37 comments I love the Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon.
Read the books in order; you'll fall in love with the main characters, Jamie and Clare; and learn or refresh a bit of Scotish history.

Dee (austhokie) | 618 comments I really enjoy JD Robb's In Death series - there are like 30 books out right now...Eve and Rourke...Eve is a cop in the future (2057-ish) and he is a self-made businessman

Also second the outlander series

Petra I third the Outlander series.
Also, there's the Arthurian series by Jack Whyte, which starts with The Skystone. It's a real-to-life series of how the King Arthur legends may have started.
If you like fantasy, you may like the Sword of Truth series, which starts with Wizard's First Rule. Very epic, lots of wizards, mortals, strange creatures. I've only read the first 2 volumes as yet.
I'm sure you've read The Lord of the Rings but, if you haven't, it's great.
I also enjoy the Lincoln Rhyme/Amelia Sachs series by Jeffrey Deaver. It starts with The Bone Collector. Forensic crime drama with personal relationships evolving as the series does.

Dee (austhokie) | 618 comments for forensic crime stuff - you could also check out Kathy Reichs...it is through her books that the tv series Bones is based on...the first one is Déjà Dead (I think)

Marti (marjay) | 985 comments Love the Eve and Rouke characters of JD Robb series!!! Quirky characters - interesting story lines - hot hot also. A similar vein is that of Jayne Castle - writing about the future world of Harmony where all the people have specialized sensory abilities... same positive qualities quirky characters - different story lines and hot hot.

Loved and read into oblivion 3 copies of The Lord of the Rings. the ultimate in fantasy!

Have you read? The Sword of Shannara by Terry Brooks. It's followed by The Elfstones of Shannara and The Wishsong of Shannara. Enjoyed the set greatly.. in the style of Lord of the Rings

The others I have thought of are Time of the Twins, a fantasy novel in the Dragonlance series written by Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman. Again I enjoyed the set and went through them quickly...

SandyC (sandyc88) | 173 comments I HIGHLY recommend the Outlander series. It will keep you busy for awhile! I also am enjoying J.R. Ward's Black Dagger Brotherhood series. These books are steamy but yes, there is a plot! The first book is Dark Lover. Another series I really enjoyed is Sandra Gulland's Josephine Bonaparte chronicles. The first one is The Many Lives & Secret Sorrows of Josephine B.. If you haven't tried Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) mysteries, you may like them as well. Enjoy your reading!

Shana (brazen) | 3 comments Thanks so much I'm checking them out now.. I'm sure most will disagree but, I enjoyed Eragon series more than Lord Of the Rings. I liked how the characters were more involved. And to anyone who hasn't read The song of Ice and fire by Gorge R.R Martin. It is one of the best series I've read in a long time.. If you like Renaissance era you will love this!!
