Laura Newcombe (laurakbooks) | 74 comments Plus, he was so fitting for the role of Sherlock Holmes.

Laura Newcombe (laurakbooks) | 74 comments I absolutely adore Greek Mythology!
The movie is just...amazing. I brought the DVD last month, since then I've watched it about, oh I don't know, fifteen times.

I know, it's dangerously obsessive.

message 154: by Laura (new)

Laura Newcombe (laurakbooks) | 74 comments I can't agree with you more.
Yes, you must. It would be the best investment ever, trust me.

message 155: by [deleted user] (new)

Yey for all this Greek mythology love. One of my concentrations in college is World Mythology and the Greek pantheon is one of my favourites. :)

Laura Newcombe (laurakbooks) | 74 comments Isn't it wonderful? Such fascinating stories and legends...oh, I just love it!

message 157: by [deleted user] (new)

@Carlyn: I hope you get the chance to take a mythology course or two. :)
@Laura: Most definitely. I'm also attracted to the spiritual aspect of all of it, but that's for a different discussion. :)

message 158: by [deleted user] (new)

My favourite aspect of one course was that it was an introduction to mythology (taken as an elective for my literature degree), so it covered quite a bit more than my other class which was about Paganism and the Greek Pantheon.

The other class, about Paganism and the Greek Pantheon, was amazing because despite my prior knowledge to the subject I found something to learn.

Ever been to DC during the cherry blossom festival? It's amazing. (of course, those trees originally came from Japan...)

Michelle wrote: "@Danielle: Sure do! It's "G" by Gwen Stefani's HLover's. :) Smells so fruity :D."
Sounds nice! I have super bad asthma and allergies, so perfumes have never really been my thing but a few years ago I got one for Christmas that is amazing: Vanilla Bourbon by Yves Rocher. :)

Michelle (meowchelle7) | 150 comments @ Kate: No, I haven't! When is that? I am actually going to DC during spring break on a school trip... I'd really like to see that!

@ Danielle: Aww that's too bad. :( I love anything vanilla, it smells so good! I have an allergy to peanuts so I can .. (kind of) relate. Almost every school party has something peanut butter related and also hot lunches on Friday have Chik-fil-a (sp?) which is cooked in peanut oil. xD Everyone always tells me how good it is too. Lol.

message 180: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments It's in the spring. I don't know when it starts or how long it lasts, but I went during my spring break at the beginning of April last year.

message 181: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments That sound fun! I'm going to DC in April, actually. I don't think it's the same time as the Cherry Blossom Festival. But Our Quiz Team placed high enough to go to the national History Bowl in DC in April, so I'm excited.

Really? We're going too! (I think. We qualified, so I hope we're going, but we haven't heard anything else about it since we got a letter of congratulations/invitation). It'll be about a week after I was there last time; I don't know if that means it'll still be there or not.

message 184: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Sweet! Maybe we'll see each other there! (who knows, we might play against each other. :) lolz) I hope you do. It'd be exciting to meet you in real life. ahahah.

message 185: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments It would be exciting. It would be funny if we played each other.

message 186: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments That's what I was just thinking!

message 187: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Are you varsity or JV for it?

message 188: by Rebekah Faith (last edited Feb 01, 2011 03:04PM) (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I play on JV when we have more than 1 team, but we only have one team going to DC. And you?

message 189: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I'm JV. (for the first History Bowl, we had two varsity and three JV teams playing. all but the last JV team made it. We had a "friendly" showdown in the finals, between our JV 1 and JV 2 teams, which came down to sudden death. It was intense)

message 190: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Woah, that's cool! We barely have enough people for 2 teams, because being a small school and not having many people interested.....lolz

message 191: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments We have about one team per grade, with almost no juniors and a lot of freshman. We usually have at most four teams, and last time we had three, which I think is the most common for us. It's gained popularity recently.

message 192: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Nicee! We used to have a fairly large team, but I'm the only freshman, there's only 1 sophomore, and only 1 senior. we have 4 juniors.

message 193: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Oh, wow. We have a lot of freshman, although most of them (myself not included, I'm proud to say) are pretty useless, a fair amount of sophomores, I think four seniors, and three juniors. (give or take) I guess that's a lot. I knew we had more teams than most of the people we competed against, but I never really payed attention.

message 194: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Wow. I'd have to say that most of the time I'm pretty useless on most questions.

message 195: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments I would have said I was until Saturday. Then for some reason I wasn't. I was happy.

message 196: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments Lolz. yeah....On specific topics i can answer questions, but others forget it.

message 197: by Kate (last edited Feb 01, 2011 04:29PM) (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Yeah. There were a lot of language/literature questions. That's my area of expertise.

message 198: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments I'm good on some literature questions and then questions about famous queens and princesses im good on- I never could get into the Dear America books, but the branch off books Royal Diaries i was hooked on several years ago. It's my area of interest.

message 199: by Kate (new)

Kate | 8205 comments Really? I was the other way around. I liked Dear America and My America, but I only read one of the Royal Diaries.

message 200: by Rebekah Faith (new)

Rebekah Faith (musicalradiance) | 6788 comments huh. That's pretty funny. My younger sister's the same way as you. She prefers the Dear America and My America.
