Incarnations of Immortality, the next generation?

Upon reading the synopsis, my first thought is; "is this series an extension of Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality?"

It sounds interesting regardless, but I'd be doubly interested if it is. Does anybody know?

I havent read the Incarnations of Immortality, but I have read the first book of the horsemen. the first book had no romance at all in it. the girl that becomes the hunger is bulimic!
