A good friend reads the whole series and assures me she redeems herself, but I haven't had the urge to let it go and keep reading yet.
Great story though.

Maybe I just need time to recover from the emotional trauma before I'm ready to trust her again. lol

Same here. No one is perfect and they all have definite issue (some very serious) but every single character really grows throughout the series and shows how strong/brave/noble they can be, even if that wasn't their intention. It's rough and gritty and will give you a few heartbreaks but is absolutely worth it. I would definitely recommend this series, it only gets better.

These can definitely get a little depressing, mostly having to do with March's torment, but I promise if you stick it out it will be worth it. I feel like it's a much more realistic love story than a lot of the other books in this genre because March and Jax frequently have to put others (even entire planets and/or universes) above themselves.

They're not sf romance; they're definitely straight sf. Of course, I tend to appreciate the romance component more when it doesn't feel like a sure thing.

I can't remember all of the distinctions between the sub genres but I don't mind if something is more science fiction with a touch of romance. What I prefer is an acknowledgement of human (Or heh, alien!) attractions and development of relationships. I don't need super erotic sex or a sugar frosting laden HEA. Sara Creasy's series, Song of Scarabeaus, for example was perfect fulfillment IMO.

I thought I had read something from Ann Aguirre that her last Sirantha book was coming out this year. So I assumed it was Aftermath. Granted Aftermath does leave room for more Sirantha story and opened up a whole new angle for more books in that world.
