what is COL?
I could be wrong, but I think it's an abreviation of Colorado.

Wow mine took a whole week!

i use sports abbreviations and sometimes airport ones for cities. i occasionally use the correct ones
Kevin, I knew what you meant. I just couldn't help myself since those abbreviations are very important in my world. :)
I've been sick with a cold for a couple days, but getting postcards yesterday from Britt and Gretchen was a bright spot in my weekend. Thanks so much!
Yippee, I just received a text to say there is a postcard at home waiting for me. I am guessing it is from Britt.
Thanks Britt the postcard was from you. It's brilliant. I have to get my act together and find a better source of post card.
I've been busy. Check your mail in about a weeks time (those of you not in my original group).
Hmmmmmmm, yeahhhh about that.Where is the format of this group headed, guys? Are we going to do another "round" or...are we just sending cards to people?
I'm so glad you got it, Kate! Yeah that poor doggie.Meanwhile, I see people already bought/sent their Secret Santa? Oh for shizzle.
My cat is much better now. As a matter of fact, he kept me up all night terrorizing/chasing the 2 other kitties. Much loud yowling/hissing. I can't wait for the tube to come out so he can go outside and release his ya yas out there.

That's what he told his mortgage company, Janine.

not the part about shooting me, i hope.
very strange because Janine received my card in just 4/5 days. one of the downsides of postcards is that there is no return address, so if a number is transposed or an optical scanner cannot read the address it ends up in a dead letter black hole. I am keeping my fingers crossed that Janine receives her card soon.
Government workers. Whaddaya expect?
Kevin "El Liso Grande" wrote: "dead letter black hole? what kind of deal are you running over there ms P?"you didn't write mauritius on the card, did you?
hey! dead letter is where mail goes that cannot be delivered for whatever reason, eg. the recipient is dead, the address doesn't exist, the address is illegible, etc AND it does not include a return address. I am not really sure what happens there, probably a lot of shredding. I often deliver postcards that arrive long after the family has returned from their trip. I don't know why they take so long...it is a conundrum. also, like Clark said, the government is running things! some days I just feel like banging my head against a brick wall.
no, what is mauritius?ahhh...now i get the dead letter deal. sort of like when i delivered a free newspaper door to door as a kid. when you got sick of delivering stuff you just tossed the rest in a dumpster
How big is the dead letter office? Wouldn't it be fun to open all the dead letters and see what they say?
I'm not sure, to be honest with you. They used to do stories occasionally about these offices and the letters getting back to the sender or to the recipient. Over the last 5 yrs there have been so many units down-sized or eliminated due to the internet. The amount of first class/important mail being sent has dramatically decreased. The Post Office is bleeding. Everyone is stretched pretty thin. The Postmaster General has again asked Congress to eliminate Saturday delivery to help save some money. But, it is the government. The Post Office is supposed to be self-supporting with no tax money, but our hands are tied by Congress as far as raising revenue. Really, if you think about it, I sent a post card to Australia for 98 cents and it probably should cost twice that in order to break even.

Hee I am so mean. Sorry Smetch, I promise not to mention it again. :D
